  1. OMG!! Congratulations!! I just got a call like 5 minutes ago.. I'm sooooo happy!! :)
  2. Yeah!! I'm so excited.. Maybe we'll hear something tomorrow.. :)
  3. Yeah, they say the same to me everytime I call. I was told that they usually call alternates on May2nd so we'll wait and see next week.. This the hardest 9 days of waiting I've ever had.. We shall see. I will post updates if they call me on May 2nd. So far, only 10 students have officially registered and 1 student registered for one class only which I find odd. Registrar said that continuing students will have until April 27th to register so we'll see how many students register by then.
  4. Are you an alternate as well? What number?
  5. Just an update, one student officially declined the nursing program as of today. There's one happy alternate right now. 2 more to go to get my spot.. I'm anxious!
  6. Well, I called yesterday to ask when is the last date of registration for the continuing students and she said that it's April 27th. For the transfer students, she said we can register starting on July 23 - 25. I asked her if this is the same with newly accepted nursing students and she said it's the same across the board.
  7. That's what I was told as well. May 1st is the deadline to pay the registration fee so transfer students who got in and are not excempt must register by that date. Normally, continuing students would have made up their minds before April 27th because that's their last day to register. I would think that continuing students who got in and have made up their minds to go with Chico would have registered by now. I know I would :)
  8. Yeah, I'm starting to get scared now. I'm sure that by tomorrow, most continuing students who got in will enroll. So by then we will know if we have a chance as alternates to still get in. The transfer students won't be able to enrol until way later so if 20 slots are taken tomorrow, our chances will be very slim. Last Spring, there were only very few continuing students who enrolled which was a good indicator that many have changed their minds. Our only hope is for transfer students to change their minds especially those who come from Southern Cal. I'm sure having clinicals far from Chico won't be too appealing for them especially if they have better choices. We'll see by tomorrow.. Let's keep hoping that many will end up changing their minds. :)
  9. I'm sure there are plenty of them. I know 4 people from CSU who got in but I'm not sure if all of them are continuing to Chico. I haven't heard from them yet but I know one of them is thinking of moving to Southern California. We'll just have to keep waiting I guess. By tomorrow, I'm sure we'll have a pretty good idea of our standing as alternates after the CSU students register.
  10. It's only two weeks away. I'm sure we'll hear from them sooner than that. Some of those who got in are probably waiting for their acceptance letters from Chico and from other schools they applied at. Perhaps they're debating where to go so we just have to be patient I guess. It's killing me too. I just wish those who decided to go elsewhere will just call the department so alternates like us won't be pulling our hair.. LOL.. So far, 7 students including cbank1 confirmed CSU... This will drive me nuts..
  11. I hope you get the Enloe one. I was really hoping I'd get it too but I guess beggars can't be choosers.
  12. LOL.. I'm doing the same thing but I guess it's hard to tell now since transfer students can't register until July 23rd (according to registrar).. So that's that. I have been waiting to hear from the nursing department but I guess those 5 students who said they won't go to CSU either lagged or did not bother to inform the department yet..
  13. That's weird. Perhaps those students who were able to register are continuing students. Are you a transfer student then? I'm really hoping that I get called in soon so I can take my clinicals at Enloe because it's only a block away from my house. But if it doesn't work, I'd still be happy going to Paradise or Oroville. I just want to start the program.
  14. @cbank1 -- I assume you got in this time right? Congratulations! Are you one of the students who registered for classes already? I'm keeping track of the available seats so I can gauge whether I have a chance of getting in as an alternate..
  15. As of 3:00 PM April 16,2012 - only 6 students have registered for nursing classes. There are 34 seats still up for grabs. Hopefully, some of them would be given to alternates. I have not heard from the nursing department yet. I'm #3 on the alternate list. I am hoping to hear from them this week. Hopefully those students who got in would make up their minds by then if they continue to CSU or not. This is totally driving me insane...
  16. Hahahaha.. Same here. Hopefully, those who intend to drop out would let the department know this week. I will let you know once they contact me. Hopefully it will be soon. I was really bummed out I did not get in with 86 points. I made the cut off but I guess there were several vets I competed with. I am still hopeful that I would end up getting in though. If not, then I guess I would have to take the thematic courses which I'm not sure are still open for transfer students. The next time I apply, I would have 88 points (2 points for the coreqs) -- I hope by then the cut off score won't be 88 or else I will be screwed.. They say that this sem has the highest cut off points thus far.. And they are anticipating it to go higher since they are accepting students who have BS degrees already.
  17. That's what I was told from a friend who got in. She said that there are 5 students who got accepted but won't continue because they got accepted somewhere else. 1 student got accepted for the PA program at UC Davis and the other 4, Chico is not really their first choice. Last Spring, 19 alternates were called in. The only time that there was only 1 alternate who got in was in Spring of 2011. From Fall of 2010 - Spring 2012, almost half of those who got in did not continue. SO let's hope that it's going to be the case for this sem. The person that I spoke to at the nursing department said that most of them time, they are informed by next week whether these students will continue or not since they only have so much time to fullfill the requirements for the program (immunizations, CPR, etc) and also, she said, most of the time, it won't be later than May 1st since it's the deadline to pay the $200 registration fee. So be on the lookout until May 1st. I was also told that in rare cases, some students drop out even after doing all the paperwork so they had to call in more alternates even around July or in extreme cases, when classes has already begun.
  18. Will do. I asked --------- when will the alternates be notified and she said that as soon as they hear from the students who got accepted but decline the offer, they will start contacting the alternates in the order of their draw. So we have a pretty good chance of getting in. I know from some friends who got in that at least 5 students are not going to continue with CSU because they got accepted elsewhere.. So that definitely opened a spot for me being #3 on the list. Hopefully more students will drop out so you can get in too :) Good luck to all of us..
  19. I got mine this morning. I had 86 points but was not included in the first round probably because I competed with several vets with the same score.. I'm number 3 on the waitlist so I'm hoping I can still get in. Last Spring, they accepted 19 alternates. Hopefully some of those who got in would change their minds.. Fingers crossed..
