I'm currently a freshman at a private college in Mn and I would love to be an extern at the Mayo Clinic my Junior year summer. My gpa for this year should be about a 3.4 but the only experience I have so far is working as a Behavior Specialist at a group home. I'm taking my CNA in June and will be working as a CNA after that. . My grandpa was diagnosed with cancer and given one year but thanks to the Mayo he was able to spend eight additional years with us. He was very important to me and working at the Mayo would be a dream of mine because I know how much help they actually are. I would like to end up at a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner and work in the NICU so I'm also wondering if anyone has any advise on whether I should go to a children's hospital or if a general hospital would be better to be well-rounded. I'm looking into volunteering at the local hospital two days a week, the women's shelter, and various groups through my college.I want to know what to do so that I can actually have a chance to get accepted into this program.
