Did someone ever make a Facebook page?

I liked that they had students in there as well, but it was definitely a crowd lol. They definitely do make you feel at ease.

To clarify, I called Jasmine again. She stated that some emails were sent on Friday and the remainder would be sent this week along with an official letter of acceptance or rejection.

When I called and spoke to Jasmine, she told me that we'd receive an email and letters were being sent Oct. 6th. I don't know why they would email some and not others about an acceptance.

It seems like acceptances are getting an email and official letter and rejections are just getting a letter. I haven't heard anything yet either.

Has anyone received a "yay or nay" yet?

I received an offer to interview. I'm glad you find out quickly to avoid the stress of the waiting game.

Hmm... I didn't receive that email. I just got the one asking about possible clinical sites. Maybe, I need to contact them.

Who told you that the deadline was July 20th? I contacted the school and was informed that they'd give a week after the deadline to get your supporting material in.

I'm applying! I was going to wait until next year, but decided to take my GRE early to meet the deadline.

From personal experience I know that you can apply to the BON wherever you are planning to work, but you can take the NCLEX anywhere because it is a standardized exam. I applied in GA and took my NCLEX in AL.

@ZONAYEH...we are in the same boat. My understanding from speaking to someone in HR is that they give you an official offer letter after the results of the background check.

You are correct, but it also depends on the location as well. For example, my sister got a job in Birmingham in med-surg immediately after graduation in December. However, I didn't get a job offer in Atlanta until late February/early March. The market is more competitive in different places and those who are applying before graduation are competing with those who already have a license and experience.

Hello, all. I'm a recent new grad (December 2013). This is my second degree; first degree is in chemistry. I attended an accelerated nursing program to earn my BSN. Since graduation, I have had the following interviews: Nurse Resident Programs: ~3 interviews with Dekalb Medical (ER-Decatur, Med-surg-Hillandale, ER-Hillandale)- All said they loved me, but didn't get any job offers. ~ 1 interview with Piedmont Fayette for Med-surg- Another rejection ~2 interviews with Emory (Cardiac cath lab- EUH and ER-EUH)- Both offered a position Staff: ~1 interview in Dalton, GA-med-surg- Was offered the job on the spot ~ 1 interview in Rome, GA- long term acute care hospital- Was offered the job the same day My most important piece of advice is to treat the job hunt as a full-time job. After a while, I had the information including references' contact info memorized because I had typed it sooooooo much!! You should be turning in AT LEAST 5 apps per day. My next word of advice is to google a list of all hospitals in your state. I google mapped every location on the list to determine whether I would be willing to move to the area. Then, I applied to every position that didn't require any or only requiring a year of experience. Smaller hospitals are more willing to hire new grads...believe me!! Last, apply to every nurse residency program possible in your area or wherever you are relocating. From my experience, GPA counts, but connections matter more! There were nurse residency slots already given to nurse externs, but hospitals were going through the motions of interviewing others :-/ Once you get the interview, it's time to start prepping. Review the interview confirmation email for any names. Then, begin "stalking" on LinkedIn to find out all you can about your possible interviewers. Next, make sure to practice your answers and research the hospital/ facility. Know their motto, awards they have received, etc. Also, review any experiences during nursing school to use as examples when answering questions. During the interview, have fun and go in with confidence. I personally deal with my nervousness by joking around to ease the tension. One interviewer commented that she loved my positivity. Their goal is to see if you are qualified and if you will mesh well with the others, so go in with a smile and relaxed disposition. Lastly, after the interview, grab a business card from everyone. Email each interviewer within 24 hours saying thanks for their time and remind them what you can bring to the company. Honestly, only one person ever responded to my thank you email, but it does set you apart to send one regardless of a response (or lack thereof) from the interviewer. Now, good luck on your journey! I was very excited and happy since my senior practicum was in the ED. Then, today (3/4) I received another call offering a position in Emory's first cohort for the cardiac cath lab nurse residency. After the initial excitement of another job offer from a great academic hospital, reality hit. Both are great opportunities. However, I have only had exposure with the ED. I love interacting with the patients in the ED, but I would also enjoy the challenge of the ccl. Being a single mom, I don't know how I would be able to handle the on-call requirement for ccl. I have some family in Atl and could always have a babysitter for on-call days. It appears that nurses come from the ED and ICU to the CCL. I will eventually go back to school to earn my DNP, so would it be better to get experience in the ED or CCL? Both positions require a two year contract, so I want to make sure I'm making the best decision. PLEASE HELP ME!!

The reference and background check actually turned out to be for the March cohort for the cardiac cath lab. I received the email before they called for an interview. I received the questionnaire and all the other paperwork for the summer/fall as the same time as you guys.

@Rachel1987...I interviewed (2/26) for the ED as well and was offered a position (2/28). I've just completed the background check and references as well. It was for the EUH location. I emailed the recruiter for a decision because I had another job on the line. I'm guessing that either I didn't get the cardiac cath lab position or they won't make a decision until they've interviewed everyone to be fair. *shrugs* I was told that the ccl probably won't start until the end of the month...they didn't even know themselves when I asked.

I interviewed at the Midtown location. It was a panel interview but very relaxed. However, I've been on a few panel interviews during this job hunt, so I may just be comfortable by now. lol

Hey, guys!! Has anyone else been contacted in regards to the first cohort of Emory's cardiac cath lab nurse residency? I interviewed on the 19th and was told that we should hear something over the next couple of weeks. I'm definitely honored to even be considered for this position considering that they don't accept new grads into this specialty. Please share your experience!!
