Just got off orientation, Please help!
Thank you all so much, I am working tonight and really dreading to go back. I really want this job, I want to stick with it and hang in there, but I just can't believe some people forgot that at one point in their life they was once new too. On our floor we don't have charge nurse or head nurse, just us staff nurses. I want to look at the chart so I can give a good report to the next nurse but sometimes I really don't have time to look at the charts, and I feel like the day shift nurse don't believe that we get busy too at night because I remember her telling me that they also do admissions and discharges all day in day shift. I hope things will get better eventually because the stress of being new and being off from orientation is to the roof, I spent a whole day thinking on what did I do wrong and when is it going to get better and if it will get better?

Just got off orientation, Please help!
I just got off orientation and been working by my self for 2 nights now. This is my very first hospital job, I don't have experience and graduated in other country. My preceptor was very helpful. I was on orientation for 6 weeks and my preceptor thought I am ready to be by my self, I don't really know if I am or not all I know is that at one point I will be by my self so go ahead and do it. My very first night being by my self was okay, I had 7 patients in total including 3 admissions which we do by ourselves in night shift because we don't have secretary, we do paper works and put orders in the computer on our own. I asked the day shift nurse to let me know if I missed anything so I can improve my self and she told me I did good the only thing I missed is that I forgot to update the care plan. The second night was crazy my preceptor told me that I will encounter things that we never encounter on my orientation and she was right, I had a direct admit, and a patient from the nursing home that is not able to sign papers, I got so behind things that I didn't realize my shift was over so I have to give report to different day shift nurse, when I was giving report to her I started being so anxious I can feel my hands getting sweaty and cold she asked me questions that I can't answer, I felt so bad because I can tell that the day shift nurse is getting irritated and keep saying that this is going to be a long day. I told her to give me time and I will get better but she seem like she doesn't care, now I don't know if it's just me that is nervous and anxious when they first get off orientation, I felt horrible and overwhelmed I cried when I got home.

Starting my very first hospital job
Hi About moki9204 I guess it depends on where you live in finding a job, I know some state in the west like SD, ND, NE is in need of nurses. I live in GA, what state do you live and you do live in the city?

Starting my very first hospital job
I am starting my very first hospital job next month in telemetry unit and I am very excited and at the same time nervous and anxious. I have some worries, first is that I am a foreign educated nurse, I am worried that our clinical when I was in school is different here in the US, second is that I graduated 2008 that is 6 years ago and a lot has changed for sure since the last time I step in the hospital and I forgot most of it already. In my interview the unit manager told me that they will give me 6 weeks training including classroom training and if they feel like I need a little bit more time they will give me an extra 2 weeks of training so that is total of 8 weeks. Can you guys give me some tips or advice on how I can survive this. I know I am stressing out already and I have not started yet. I bought ekg books since I will be working in telemetry unit. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

GA Re Entry Program
I am a foreign graduate, I graduated 2008 so its been 6 years and I just recently passed NCLEX on my second try. I know it took me this long but I have reasons the main cause of this delay is of course I didn't pass on my first try which is in 2010 and second is that being an international graduate living in the US it is a time consuming to send my paper works back and forth from here to where I graduated.I live in GA and license in FL, my concern is that I am not qualified to endorse my license which is FL to GA because I don't have 500 hrs. experience in state of FL and I've been out of school for 6 yrs. I was told by the customer service of the board of licensing that I can do a Re Entry, they have list of hospitals and colleges that had offered Re Entry program, and almost everything on the list don't do it anymore. I found one but its not a sure thing yet, does anybody on here know anybody or maybe themselves that went through the same thing and was able to do the Re Entry. I am willing to go anywhere in GA if there is just any college or hospital that will guarantee me that they will work with me on completing the refresher program.

kaplan score 50-60ish? Passing?
Thank you! for me it was harder than kaplan, but maybe not, I am probably panicking so I thought it was harder, just keep doing what you're doing and do the PDA book if you can. And you'll do fine! Good luck! and believe in your self.

There is hope in 265, 2nd attempt and I made it!
There is hope in 265 questions. I graduated 2008, in 2010 my first NCLEX attempt I failed 75 questions and computer shut down I pretty much know I failed I just know it. I got married, moved and found me a job then after four years I tried it again March 29,2014 at 8am I sat for the second time this time it's different. I studied 3 months intensively, enrolled my self in Kaplan review anywhere, bought a lot of review books like saunders, PDA, exam cram, lippincott's, REA, Kaplan 2011-2012, I studied from sun up to sun down. I put my heart and my soul into it, my husband told me that I have do my review as if it is my full time job and that's what I did. I prayed everyday, cause I know how hard NCLEX is. The day of my test I am not 100% ready but I know God is with me, 4 hrs and 265 questions later, I passed! I cried hysterically I didn't jump up and down instead I cried and thank God for it because I know I could have not made it without GOD I am clueless 50% of the time in the testing room I don't know the answer and every time I get clueless I talk to God and ask God is this the right answer? I know you are with me right now please help me and God did. Finally a dream come true to you all test takers, if I can do it, YOU CAN DO IT! "Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you."For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened....Matthew 7
