  1. Re: car I would suggest speaking to somebody at Bcit. I'm currently in level 2 and a lot of people car pool as we often have to be at the hospital 6-630 am. For level 5, access to a car is ideal because you have back to back appointments in a day, and they may not be in the same neighbourhood. That being said, Bcit is fairly accommodating, and will probably help you figure this issue out. Good luck
  2. Smiley65, any advice for our first day of clinical!? What was your first day like?
  3. I mean Smiley65! Haha
  4. Hi spellingbee, I would also suggest checking out marks work warehouse for scrubs! Smiley28, thanks again for your advice! I will definitely be getting myself involved in a study group!
  5. Smiley65, how much anatomy gets covered in the program? I just have bio 12, and am wondering how much anatomy studying/reviewing i should do before August?! Thanks!
  6. And thanks for all the advice Smiley! I'm definitely going to buy it$
  7. Just to confirm , we only need to do the one day CPR, not the 2 day CPR and first aid?
  8. Hi Smiley65, perhaps you have already commented on this, but what are your thoughts on nursing central/uCentral? Would you recommend purchasing it? Thanks!!
  9. Thanks!!!
  10. Has anybody gotten the mask fit testing yet? Where did you go?
  11. Hi all, I'm missing the orientation tonight. If somebody could pass along any tid bits of info that'd be great!
  12. I have my fingers crossed for those that are still waiting! For those of you that have heard, I need your help! I will be missing the orientation on May 10th, as I will be (ironically) leaving for a trip to Europe on May 9th. The school promises me to fill me in on what I miss...but could one of you please fill me in too?...I need/want a student's perspective! Thanks in advance!
  13. I received mine yesterday too! Congrats everybody!
  14. Hi Kaay,Check to see if your family dr will do a tb test for you. Unless the protocol has changed, or bcit requests something different, your family dr should be able to perform a tb test. I had one just over a year ago for some volunteer work. Good luck!!Good luck!
  15. I just received my shortlist email too! I don't know if I will be able to sleep tonight!
  16. @vana_ There is still hope! I recieved this from a BCIT advisor that I emailed earlier today: "Your timing is great because I’ve just spoken with the Nursing department about this process! They are now sending out emails to those applicants who have been shortlisted. Some have already gone and the remainder of emails are expected to be sent in the next 1-2 days. For those not shortlisted, their on line application status should reflect this again, they are hoping this will be in the next 1-3 days."
  17. @vana_ I don't know what to think...I have a BA in Psych, volunteering in a healthcare setting, a job in healthcare and am a Canadian citizen ect. @Lucybird I am pretty sure that they send out rejections, as somebody mentioned in an earlier post that they have applied before and when they did not get in, they got a letter telling them so, and some information about how to be more competitive.
  18. @vana_ Hmmm my full first name starts with 'A'!!! Quite frankly, I think that they have a ton of applicants to go through and there isn't much rythme or reason to the process (although I do have a few thoughts which I mention below)! It also seems so weird that some people already have their shortlist letters and others don't? How do they know that somebody at the bottom of the pile insn't better than than people that they have already shortlisted from the beginning of the pile (exept for the exception of those that were waitlisted from previous terms ect.)? Aren't we supposed to be competing against all the other 600 applicants? I don't expect anyone to answer these questions of course, I am just so frustrated and impatient! :) Anyways, out of curiosity vana_, when did you apply and have all your documentation in? Just wondering if they are going through applicants of those who have most recently applied first, seeing as I think dmak26 mentioned (I could be wrong!) that she handed in a document a day late and has already received her shortlist letter, and I haven't received either a shortlist or a reject and I handed in my documentation very early! Ugh I am so tired of waiting and developing theories of why this is taking so long! I think I am going to call BCIT this afternoon for a general update if I don't hear anything by the end of the business day. Fingers crossed for all of us who are still waiting!
  19. Is there anybody out there who is still waiting to hear if they have been shortlisted/rejected? My application STILL says pending department review and it is KILLING ME! Congrats to those who have already been shortlisted and provisionally accepted!!
