  1. Well, it's been long time since I last posted. I've still been working in home health and yes, I still don't like it...nothing's changed. I've recently prepared myself to enter my local community college by purchasing a $50.00 book( a study guide for the academic Teas V exam). You must take this exam prior to entering the LPN program according to my local college. Mind you, I am almost 43. It's been many years since I was taught how to simplify expressions, equations, english, reading, and science. However, I studied hard, I took the test, and scored a 93% A. Would you believe that did not get me in. To get in the LPN program at my community college, you have to score a 95% or better. Really?? What was really disappointing, was the fact that you have 3 chances per academic year to take it (via appointment)-BUT I wasn't told I had to do it w/in the 1st 3 months of the new year. So, I had only 1 shot do get a good grade. Another downside, is the fact that you have to pay $50.00 each time you take it - whether you passed it or not. My friend took it the 1st time and scored an 84%C; which is a passing grade, but chose to pay and retake it-in which she scored a 94%A...and they still didn't accept her...one point away!!!! Anyway, I had an epiphany all over myself...lol.....I decided to give it a shot and try phlebotomy. Is there another CNA/phlebotomist out there??
  2. Awsome guys, thank you. Yes, I have made my decision (with a little help). I have decided NOT to worry about the LPN program right now. Because like you said, I need experience IN A FACILITY. It won't be any good being an LPN, without facility experience. Also, depending on where I work, I may be able to bridge over to the LPN program. So, again, thanks for the advice.
  3. Hey, congratulations on almost completing the LPN program. I am currently a cna and I am not happy with the my current job. I wanted to do skilled nursing however, I am just a home health aid. Although, the money is waaay better than what a non-experienced cna would make in a facility. Long story short, I had 2 interviews the same day. One in a facility for $8.00 an hour and the other as a HHa for $ 11.00. You tell me which you would have picked... Anyway, I am not happy. If I wanted to clean houses, I would have become a maid. Because I am surely beeing treated like one. My question to you is, is the LPN class as hard as they say? Ive heard its way more difficult than the RN. I have to maintain a FT job, so I won't be able to handle the RN program. For a girl with a 3.0 g.p.a. would I be OK? and what are all the pre reqs you have to have? Biology, math, Pharmacology, and Chemistry? Please help. Im ready to sign up for class, but I don't want to humiliate my self, If it's that difficult.. Thanks for any advice you may have for me....
  4. It has been many quite some time, since I have had time to go to allnurses. I have been working minimum 78 hours weekly. 7 days a week. I am working as a "home health aid" and not a cna. My employer doesn't hire "skilled nurses". Anyway, It's not what I had in mind as employment, but the money was great. But then, I had to work all these hours to get a big fat paycheck. I had only 2 clients. A husband and wife. Long story short, they are now going into a nursing home. So, I am without paycheck. I can't sit around and wait for new client, so I thought, what an excellent time to sign up for LPN class. Well, that fell through. It seems that due to budget cuts, here in FL., the classroom sizes have gotten smaller, and the LPN program is only held at the one of 3 campuses , in my area. Therefore, the classes are all filled for the year 2012-13. I am signed up for August of 2013. My question is, is the LPN program really hard? I know the RN program is, but the thing is, is that I have to have a job and be able to go to school. Also, should I suck it up and go work in a facility, where I know Im always guarenteed hours, for 8-9 dollars an hour, or sit idley by and wait for a new client, where I am making 11-12 dollars an hour. I am all confused..
