  1. I agree with Nutella, I have been with a fairly large hospice company (200 patients) for about 5 years. I agree with making sure the hospice has a admissions team/nurse because it really ruins your day when you find out that you have to do an admission after seeing 5 patients, full time oncall staff because no one wants to work all day and then have to go out and work all night oncall too, manager who is flexible because that's why most people go to hospice is for the flexibility(able to go to kids school, events, start late or get off early when needed and appts with no hassle), and good, organized orientation. Hospice pays great, excellent time off (occasionally oncall maybe 1-2 times a month) and excellent benefits!
  2. I received a pen with a marketing company's logo and a t-shirt with my company's logo. Times have really changed in nursing, when I first entered nursing about 17 years ago the hospital I worked at celebrated it all week with something different for the nurses each day!
  3. I have been a RN for about 14yrs and have worked in various nursing settings and have yet to find my "niche". Ive hated every nursing job I have ever had. Of course some were far worse than others. I feel like I have just been "stuck" in nursing all these years. The patients are not the problem, its the coworkers, rude arrogant doctors and demanding families. I have a friend who felt the same as I do, she went back for her masters degree and got a job as a case manager at a large university. She absoultely loves her job. No patient care, she works mainly independently. Im starting classes for my masters degree in may and its completely online. I wish I had done this sooner but better late than never, I still have 16 years before retirement so I think it will be well worth it.
