  1. I went through the ABSN program last year and was employed within 6 months of graduation. The main reason for the delay was due to timing in getting into a new grad program as most hospitals only offer them a couple times a year. Most of my class has jobs and I started out at > $80K. We definitely have an advantage of having not only the BSN but also a degree in something else. Having any other kind of medical experience (paid or volunteer) also helps out a lot.
  2. Congrats!! I was hired in the OR so I'll see you June 4th :)
  3. I think every unit is different (one unit told me they were sending top 5 out of 12 but not sure if that really happened) but if you are doing the reference check I'd say you've got a good shot. What unit did you interview for?
  4. They have offered someone the job (not me) so onward and upward we go
  5. The interview as rather informal as it was just with the nurse manager (no panel) She asked pretty standard questions like about conflict, miscommunication, stress and there were no situational questions. Do you have an interview coming up?
  6. Not yet. She said she would give HR her top 5 candidates probably tomorrow then HR will contact those individuals to do that online skills survey thing. This process is ridiculously slow
  7. Awesome. Congrats and good luck! I had my interview yesterday and the manager was really nice :)
  8. Thank you! My interview is on Davis 12. You?
  9. Thanks @Finna22! I graduated from a CA school in December 2011. I'm sure they will be making more calls...good luck!
  10. They are alive over at UCD....received a call today to set up an interview on a med/surg floor. A former classmate of mine did as well. Wasn't were I indicated I wanted to work on my cover letter but I'll take it!
  11. I went through the ABSN in Sac so could be different but we were given the information about the bloodborne pathogens certificate at orientation. You had to do it on a specific website and pay a small fee (I think less than $20 maybe even less than $10)
  12. Unfortunately UCD does not accept IP's
  13. I took the NCLEX on 1/11/12 and my license showed up on the CA BRN website on 1/18/12. I received the actual license card a couple days later. Some of my classmates were on a time crunch to get their license numbers before they started new grad programs but everyone eventually got it (after a few calls to the BRN managers). You just need to have the number not the actual physical license before the start. The big problem our class had was geting our eligibility to test but it really depends on the school because ours took their time sending in our transcripts which delayed things. They BRN takes like 6 weeks to process paperwork so I recommend turning in your app and paying your fees to the BRN AND Pearson Vue about a month before you graduate and hope that your school is on top of things and sends your class roster and transcripts fast! Good luck :)
