  1. Hey, I didn't know this either until I started applying to jobs after graduating.
  2. I disagree with the previous post. I'm a new grad RN with an ADN (associate's) and I wished I would have become an LVN first as a stepping stone so that I had some sort of nursing experience before I became an RN. Also it makes nursing school a LOT easier from what my LVN former-classmates told me. If the job market in CT is better for new grads than it is here in CA (it's nearly impossible to find a job) then she should do the ADN get 1 year experience in CT as an RN and then when you two move to CA it will be much, much easier for her to get a job and support you guys while you go to med school and then if she wants she can get the BSN. Employers will choose 1 year RN experience with ADN over no experience with a BSN any day of the week! Hope this helps.
  3. Go through the phone book and call nursing homes aka skilled nursing facilities aka long-term care facilities to see if they are hiring.
  4. If you come to CA for nursing school just don't expect to find a job here unless you want to work in a nursing home (hint:you don't)! There are a trillion unemployed new grad RN's here!!
  5. "Clarify" means you go up to the DON or administrator and say, " I have read the policy on this over and over. It seems to me ...(liability, DNR, responsibility, blah, blah) Can you CLARIFY this for me?"
  6. Props to the commenter that said she would report the facility!
  7. That's good to hear SOMEWHERE has no problem hiring new grads even if it sounds like a far off galaxy.
  8. I seriously want to know where this is!!! Is the min wage like $2????? $18 seems crazy low in contrast to the $45/hr in a hospital in the Monterey/San Fran Bay area, Ca where i live. I'm going to start in a SNF here at $31
  9. How did the professional resume writing go? I'm thinking I'm going to do that too.
