  1. @kaimcn12: at least you got an interview...4 years ago i got nada...except for a denial letter (months later)...an interview is monumental...
  2. if it's any consolation, i know they met yestaday, however, admissions coordinator was out 2day, so the waiting game continues...i know the angst & anticipation & waiting game like every1 else. i'm also familiar w/ if it's meant 2 be, it'll be...every1 who's waiting...juss take a deep breath, know you're in good hands, and that "it" will happen when the time's "right" - trust!
  3. LOL, even if u accidentally hit decline, juss call Liz on Monday (or email her now) & tell her u accept. it'll be alright
  4. “Life is All About How you Handle Plan B Plan A is always my first choice. You know, the one where Everything works out to be Happily ever-after. But more often than not, I find myself dealing with The upside-down, inside-out version -- Where nothing goes as it should. It's at this point that the real Test of my character comes in.. Do I sink, or do I swim? Do I wallow in self pity and play the victim, Or simply shift gears And make the best of the situation? The choice is all mine... Life is all about how you handle Plan B.”
  5. @ktdidit: that's freakin' awesome! congratz! *huge smile*
  6. @punkydoodles: i applied 2x, 1st time was right in the middle of Ike (which was a couple of days b4 my bday) - my denial letter, a devastating hurricane, loss of power for weeks, couldn't return to work for 3 months because UTMB was destroyed, having to drop all of my classes in progress and probably one of the worst bdays ever, thinking I'd be one of the 3,000+ laid off, but they kept me, i moved forward, held on, stayed strong, pressed on, ...everything happens for a reason, and when the timing's right...perseverance.
  7. @AustinC: live & wk In galveston, there's tunza places on craigslist, apartments on both the east & west end that're super-inexpensive, & most of those old historic homes close to UTMB have garage/guest houses/apartments in their backyards that're like $400/mo
  8. @hemphia: haven't applied for scholarships, but intend to. 1 of my friends currently in the program had her entire tuition covered by one scholarship...
  9. @Amymit: you'll have to get ur BGC done again...it has to be 2 weeks before orientation.
  10. 147 days, or 3,540 hours till orientation...countin' em down :)
  11. congratz to everyone who rec'd their acceptance letters/emails! can't wait to meet you guys. i know how excited you all must be...i literally walked str8 to the bookstore to get those burnt orange scrubs minutes after i got my email. and yes, SJC patho will count toward your elective science. happy acceptance friday!!! :)
  12. they're not done w/ interviews, ur GPA & TEAS aren't the only things they look @. personal statement is a biggie, and they look a lot @ number of attempts at classes, withdrawals, fails, retakes, etc. don't get discouraged, they've accepted people w/ lower GPAs & better reasoning for it and denied those who looked gr8 on paper. they look at the applicant as a whole which is 1 of the many reasons i HEART them! :) patience!
  13. nessa - don't stress. the professors rock! they WANT you to succeed! it's such a cool place/atmosphere. orientation is LOOOOONG. i don't recommend having a job while in the program (unless absolutely necessary or one of those FWS jobs where you work as few hours as possible & on your own schedule as clinical schedules change as do lectures. other schools i've taken classes at you are just a number, whereas UTMB the professors actually engage with you & go above & beyond
  14. I took patho @ COM & it counted as my elective science. committee meets EOF to review apps, every Monday to discuss/decide, but shifts between BSN & MSN. i took pharm at Lee & HCC & neither will txfr, but the knowledge will be beneficial in pharm/pathopharm.
  15. i work at UTMB
