  1. Thanks @mahiru926. This will be my first time joining Facebook. I too think this will be the best way to communicate.
  2. @snookiejc- thanks. We were told at the pre-registration meeting that we'd have an orientation type session at Olive View where they'd perform the live scan, fire training and sign us up for our badges. Did you have a similar situation? How do you like Olive View thus far? Any tips would be much appreciated. Thanks again.
  3. Hey Willowita, sorry for the delayed response. Trying to get all of this school stuff done plus work has made for some long days recently. Yes the pharmacology book was the issue. But I managed to find the correct year. I too purchased my insurance from NSO. They were pretty efficient in getting the certificate sent quickly. I was wondering if anyone who will be attending the Olive View clinical site has received any information yet? I have yet to get anything and after calling the school on three separate occasions- all I hear is "next week".
  4. Hello all! Got the health clearance done. Already had my BLS through work. I'm trying to get all the textbooks. I've managed to find some pretty good deals online. I'm just concerned because I manage to find the correct edition but it's not the same publishing year that appears on our list. I hope this does not make a difference. Any insight anyone?
  5. After doing a little research of my own- turns out there are many schools that aren't NLNAC accredited, including Glendale and Pasadena. However, County is NLNAC approved- otherwise the state of CA wouldn't allow you to take the NCLEX. NLNAC accreditation is sought after by hospital systems like Kaiser or the VA because there facilities are in most states across the US. They are attempting to maintain a unified level of education in all their hospitals. I want to work in a County facility when I graduate- so this isn't really a deal breaker for me.
  6. I know what you mean willowita. I am fortunate enough to have my pick of several schools and am having the same thoughts after reading the alarming posts about County.
  7. Mine is for the generic ADN as well.
  8. Thanks fc89! They will be mailing out official letters by friday with additional info.
  9. Just received a call from County- I've been accepted!! Good luck to all others that applied!
  10. Called PCC this morning to formally decline the acceptance as I am holding out for County and I have also been accepted to COC's Fall 2012 program (and completed the laundry list of requirements COC wanted by May 25th). Good luck to any alternates and congratulations to all those who were also accepted.
  11. Received a call as well. I was accepted to PCC.
  12. For all who applied to the generic ADN program- I was informed today by a secretary that letters would not be sent out until the first week of June. Sorry for the bad news... I too am waiting to hear from County.
  13. Nothing from Kaplan yet. Just an FYI- Providence Holy Cross is having a course on May 18th for the Fire & Safety card. It's not free- but it's cheaper than the COC course!
  14. Thanks @kmadrid! Your assistance is greatly appreciated. I guess that info wasn't as clear for some as it was for others. But I guess that's what this forum is all about- helping one another.
  15. That was definitely alot of info! So can anyone clarify- are we supposed to get two doses of all vaccines- not just two TB screens? If you've already had one HBv vaccine- this means we need to get another even if you have positive titers?
  16. I agree! Yikes. So can anyone clarify- are supposed to get two doses of ALL vaccines, regardless of whether we've had it done before and have positive titers?
  17. @nurseoftheworld, @kmadrid- Thanks. I'm excited to have heard back from anyone. These last few weeks have been nerve-wracking! Still waiting to hear from all the same schools @nurseoftheworld- as well as Pasadena and LA County. Nothing yet though. County does not mail out their letters until mid May. I'm thrilled to go anywhere though!
  18. @ Kmadrid-Great news... I was accepted. Scary though-they did not send me the first email that stated I was accepted. I called this morning and confirmed that I was accepted, but they did not know why I did not receive the first email. Hopefully this did not happen to anyone else. Just an FYI to all- make sure to RSVP for the orientation.
  19. @Kmadrid Thanks for the reply. I got an email as well. But mine did not actually state "you've been accepted". But it also doesn't say I was denied or am an alternate. However it does have the link for the Orientation material. I don't want to get my hopes up- but I think it's safe to say I'm in.
  20. Hello all and congratulations. Just wondering how you heard from COC. Was it by letter or email?
