  1. So this class I am in now for set concepts, subsets, set notations and Geometry isn't really going to apply to real world nursing?
  2. Which math is mostly used in Nursing? Algebra, Statistics..... I am really bad at Algebra. I just want to know which course to focus on the most and will be used during my nursing career. Thank you,
  3. I understand what everyone is saying. I know 2 nurses that are in it for the money and do just fine. One of them has been RN for 15 years and the other 4. It is like any job, you can have the skills and training to complete the tasts but don't have to like it. The school I am attending talked me into the MA program before taking nursing. I have high honors and GPA 4.0. I am completed in October. What I need help in is deciding which Bachelors program I want to start. I know I should be looking into a BSN/MSN but I want to enter the nursing school with a completed Bacherlos degree and then just take the core nursing classes. There is a program at University of San Diego that offers current bacherlor degree holding students that are not RN's, a MSN program. If I decided nursing was not for me, which other health science degree could I obtain to make good enough money to live in SD?
  4. Hello everyone: I am so lost on my educational track. Please help! I am completing my Associate of Applied Science in Medical Assisting right now at Kaplan University. I thought my dream goal was to ultimately complete my Doctor of Nursing Practice and work as Nurse Practitioner. I honestly only had interest in the medical field for the money. Many people I have talked to say that if I did not have a true desire to help patients and I was only in it for the money, I would get burned out and not like it. So with that being said, I am trying to figure out which program I should go into next. I do want to obtain my doctoral in some health care related field. I currenly live in North Las Vegas, Nevada and I am relocating to La Jolla, California (San Diego) soon. My question is, after my assoicate is completed, which bacherlors program should I start. I am looking for the highest paying job and the degree that would pretty much is in demand in San Diego, CA. Thanks. Ideas of program routes I thought about... Ideas.....???? Associate of Applied Science in Medical Assisting, Bachelor of Science in Health Science, Master of Public Health Associate of Applied Science in Medical Assisting , Bachelor of Science in Psychology, Master of Science in Psychology Associate of Applied Science in Medical Assisting, Bacherlor of Science in Allied Health Please help me. Thanks
  5. RN program is 18 months ASN.. Did you retake the wonderlic test?
  6. I am 31 year old single father of 2 kids. My previous background has been in restaurant management. I have always had a desire to work in Medical. I went to Kaplan college to inquire about nursing. The adviser told me it would be 6 months before the next nursing start date and talked me into doing Medical Assistant X Ray Tech program while I am waiting. I am currently in this program but not really happy. I scored high enough on testing for nursing. I feel like I am wasting my time in this class. My question is this. Should I drop the XRAY part of the Medical Assistant Class and go into the RN program which starts in December or should I drop the entire Medical Assistant X ray tech program and start LPN in July? My goal is to be a RN. Some of my friends/family say stay in the MA program, drop the xray and just work as MA during RN school. Others tell me, drop MA and start LPN which will give you a better background into nursing. Any thoughts out there from anyone. I am so lost. Thank You in Advance.
  7. Nice. Vegas has quiet a few nursing schools. Most of them require entrance exams and most I have noticed have gone away with the waiting lists. Like the Kaplan campus I attend right now, they have 3 starts per year and allow 40 students per start. If you do not make the 40 cut, then you have to re apply before the next start. Here is the most recent Approved schools for Nevada by the Nevada State Board of Nursing. http://nevadanursingboard.org/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/nursingprograms.pdf
  8. Do you have any medical experience? What makes you want to come to Las Vegas?
  9. yes I have. They said I can get into either program. My test scores were good. I just have no medical background and don't want to jump in too fast. I was thinking LPN and that way I build more onto my Medical Assistant classes and then go RN. sorry it took me so long to reply. I did not know anyone replied. lol
  10. Hello, I am current enrolled in the Medical Assistant and X ray tech program at Kaplan College. I have interest in nursing and have not decided if I wanted to do their LPN or RN program when I am done with the MA program. Is there anyone else in Vegas going down the same road I am. I would like to make some friends to hang out with and do study sessions with. Let me know.
  11. I was wondering if anyone knew of any online LPN classes. I live in Las Vegas, Nevada. I have no problem going in person to do labs or clinical but want to do most of the work online. Can someone please direct me. I have financial aid all completed. I would like a school that would accept the pell grant too. Thanks
