Not sure if you followed the thread (I read all 40 pages lol) I heard they rely on the writing sample, science pre-reqs, and healthcare experience. They follow some type of point system. I am excited to find out what happens....I check daily to see if anything has changed...we should know something in about 2 weeks hopefully. Yes I hear about 500-800 people apply a year.

I also had to take A&PII and nutrition (they wouldn't accept my clinical nutrition from my Masters).....you could knock that out easily online at USF. Maybe you could do a little volunteering at a hospital while you are taking that class....also sign up for patho of nursing practice...they want you to take this class before starting the nursing program if possible.

I went through the same thing! I was thinking of becoming a PA and I went to Barry's info session. The program was quite expensive and it would take 2 years. The accelerated is quicker, do not need to take the GRE (for USF at least), and it's cheaper. So I went that route and plan to purse ARNP....I do not think that would be negative to say in your essay...they want to know your goals so I included that and it hasn't hurt me (yet) lol....when are you applying for? I had to complete a couple of pre-req for the program and I am applying for Summer.....we should find out in a couple of weeks....

Hello, I am new to the group. I have also applied for Summer 2012. Just waiting for a decision now. I have questions about after you get accepted. I see someone mentioned a hugh packet coming to you once accepted...what's all apart of this packet? is there a lot of background things we will need to do? Do we start clinicals soon as we start the program in the Summer? Guess I'm a little nervous about being thrown out in the community the first semester and not knowing what to do. Anyone with any helpful tips please give me some info. I am 28, I have a BS in Biology and Minor in Psychology from Eckerd College. I have a MS is Medical Sciences from USF College of Medicine. I have worked as a pharm tech, associate chemist, and microbiologist. I am hopeful about the program and look forward to becoming a nurse :)

USF Accelerated program Summer 2012
Hello, I also applied to the 2012 program. I have been changed to the committee status, just waiting for a decision now. I hear that the essay and your core science GPA is the most important....not sure how correct this is though. Hopefully we will be hearing something very soon. I have a BS in Bio from Eckerd College, minor in psychology, Master's in medical sciences from USF College of Med....I have worked as a pharm tech, associate chemist, and microbiologist. I have done volunteer work but not since I have worked full time and school full time....so we will see what happens...good luck
