    Hello everyone, I am new here and also new to nursing. :) I graduated in Aug 2011 from Villanova University accelerated program. I was a research nurse at Johns Hopkins until I landed a job in Labor and Delivery at Howard University Hospital. I love it here and I love that I finally landed a job in the specialty I went back to school for. I have been in L&D for a month now and still a little scare. What advice would you give a new L&D nurse in terms of continuing education? What classes or courses should I take? What should I already know or what should I know on my own has a labor and delivery nurse? Where can I find classes/courses pertaining to L&D? Can I go into any hospital and take a class about L&D if they offer it? I know I'm probably panicking to soon....but I have to study outside the hospital I just don't know what to study. I am reading my maternity books from nursing school but I know textbook is different from real life and there are things that I need to know that are not in the book.
