  1. Hey there! I'm in a similar situation to you so I wondering what everyone's advice is as well. Due to work and school schedules I haven't had as much time to study as some of my peers have and my test is Monday morning! I have been doing some practice tests from Saunders booms and two others...I believe one is lippincott...but they are either hit or miss and it is beginning to really worry me. I did not take the Kaplan review or any others because the money just isn't there but I just don't know what to do. This is really important to me and my family that I pass this and move on (as I'm sure it is for everyone else) and I'm just feeling lost. I'm sorry I was not able to offer any sound advice, but you definitely are not alone! The very best of luck to you!
  2. Hello everyone. I have a bit of advice to ask all of you if you have any to offer. I will be graduating as a new nurse with an ADN in just a few more weeks. I will be taking the NCLEX first thing in June and my BSN program begins in July. I have been searching everywhere in the Chicago land area for a NICU job, and I am starting to get discouraged and pretty sad about it. There are positions out there, but a lot of them require experience in the NICU and I obviously don't have any yet. I have known from the beginning that this is what I wanted to do, and I wouldn't be happy in any other field. I just don't understand how I am supposed to get experience if no one will let me start. You have to start somewhere! I just don't get it. Some instructors have told me to take whatever I can get (Med/Surg and elsewhere) but I just don't see the point in starting somewhere I won't be happy when it still will not gain me any experience. Any advice to a brand new grad? If only these employers could know how badly I want this...

Hello everyone! I'm new to this website so I'm hoping to figure my way around here pretty quickly. I am about to graduate with my nursing degree in 73 days!!!! Not that I am counting or anything... NICU nursing has definitely become my passion and I just cannot wait to get out there and start working. I am nervous about finding a position that will accept a new grad, but I'm keeping my chin up and hoping for the best. I do have one last paper I have to write for school. It has to be an evidence based practice topic using the PICOT format and of course I would like to choose one relevant to the NICU. Since I don't have years of experience working there I was wondering if any of the experienced nurses can give me some ideas on hot topics in the field at the moment? Any insight would be appreciated. I consider myself a sponge at the moment! I will take any and all insight or advice!! :) So excited...
