I got a 42 on my act compo for engl and reading, I have a 3.9 for all the classes I've taken. But I think the ADN department only calculated the required classes which should be 3.85. I've completed all required class @ alvin and just nutrition class which is not required. Thank you all. Where can I take cheap immunization shots without insurance in houston?

I received my acceptance email from Alvin community college just now. I have untill 8th of Nov to decide. Who else got accepted for spring 2013?

Yes, it was okay, the campus was very far to my house though. We were given files to put all our documents like Act scores reports, immunization copies in. We submitted the files at the end of the meeting. We were asked to fill some papers as proofs that we came to the meeting. Then, the woman explained every steps of the application instruction. We were given copies of the application instruction. She answered every of our questions. She said applicants will be selected on the no of prerequisites/non-nursing courses completed and their GPAs in those courses. The applicants that have completed all or most of their courses with high GPAs and high Act scores will have the highest rank. She said if an applicant have high GPA with low ACT, or low GPA with high ACT, he/she may be accepted because high and low may help each other but low and low will not help each other in the ranking. The deadline is Oct 3rd, it will be the only and last day to submit all documents. She said we can also fax the documents to the nursing department but we are all required to attend an applicant meeting, it is mandatory. Have you been to the meeting too or you are planning to? I have submitted all documents. I'm waiting for the middle of Nov to come by God's grace to know if I will get in. She said we will be notified through our email if we are accepted or not by the middle of Nov. Goodluck

Has anyone been to the applicant meeting at Alvin for spring 2013. How was it?

@ Johnsover, I am applying to Alvin too, the application is out now through oct 3rd. I have done the online application but I am still planning to go to the mandatory applicant meeting. I would have applied to wharton because it is the closest to my house compared to other schools. I did all my prequisites at wharton too with overall 3.9 Gpa, but I got 19 on the ACT. I didnt apply to Spring class at Wharton because I hadn't completed Micro by the application deadline, I finished it last summer 2. Now i am applying to Alvin but I am more concerned with the distance, it is about 50mins drive from my house and I dont drive, my sis takes me to school. I think You should apply to Alvin, I was told not as many applicants normally apply for the spring. And with your Act composite score, its kind of high for Alvin requirement I guess. My compo for Eng and Reading is 42, I think my Gpa for the school will be like 3.8 or 3.85. I will advise you to give it a try at Alvin. Who knows? It may be your lucky shot. I will give it a try too

Hey guys, how are y'all preparing for your program? I just want to let you know that I have completed my Eng and micro now with A's in both, my overall GPA now is 3.86, my science is 4.0. My only concern now is the transportation issue, I stay in Houston, from my house to Alvin is around 55mins. If you know anyone that we can share ride together and pay the expense together. @ Agiusti: yes it really helped, thank you so much. You guys are wonderful, i'v been posting on this site for so long but people were not that responding. With the information i got from you guys, i am very encouraged because i was thinking of waiting till nxt fall before applying, but i will try this nxt spring first. I have just completed my hepatitis B shots yesterday.I still need to take the bacteria meningitis, that is because i'm transfering from another school (wcjc). I dont live in Alvin tax district and I haven't taken any class at Alvin, i had withdrawn from a class before, that was Engl 1301. I just hope all these won't stand against me because i read that they give additional consideration to those that have these qualities.

Agiusti and Jehowell91: did u take dosage and the second class before applying. i got 42 for both reading and english, i dont know if that is good enough or i should take it again, for my overall gpa is 3.8 but i still have to take microbiology and engl 1302 class, i am currently taking engl 1301, i know i will have A in it. i have A's in both anatomy 1 and 2. i heard that Alvin takes just 30 students for spring.please any advice?

I am also in that school, i had A's in biol 2401 and 2402, but i want to take the micro.. this summer, i know about someone that had 3.2 or 3.3 gpa that got in but she made 28 on her act, i will advise you to do your act very well and then apply, but during the time you are waiting for the reply, you can be retaking the one you had C in. I will be applying to the adn program too but i want to do engl 1302 and microbiology class before applying. i am nervous about my act score, i have done it 3 times, i did the local and national but i got 19 in all. i dont know if it is competitive because that is the minimum requirement. good luck
