  1. While showing you the picture may have been a tad unprofessional, termination is too harsh a punishment for such a minor infraction. 2 weeks suspension is also incredibly harsh. No one was hurt, harassed, or harmed in any way from you seeing a picture for a couple seconds. At most the punishment should have been a verbal warning. This is ridiculous.
  2. As of right now i'm leaning more towards Columbia, but like you, if i dont 'feel the love' at the open house then I too will be on a flight to Vandy the following week. When it comes to cost of living, getting a roommate will be your lifeline in nyc.
  3. Hey i tried to respond to the PM but i couldn't because I don't have 15 posts yet. The main appeal to Vandy to me right now is that possibility of being able to continue on to a DNP after the MSN. With the looming 2015 proposal I think this would be beneficial in the long run. That's about it though, from what i've been able to discern.
  4. I started off as a residential counselor, but now i'm an Assistant Manager of a residential house. The residents have various developmental and psychiatric disabilities.
  5. @dedicatedone What other schools did you get into? And what aspects of each program are you looking at to help you make your final decision as to where to go?

Hey everyone, i have recently been accepted into a couple of PMHNP programs but I've narrowed my top choices down to Columbia and Vanderbilt. However, i'm having a tough time deciding between the two. What aspects about programs did you look at to help you decide which school to go to? Has anyone graduated from any of those two schools? If so could you tell me your experiences. How's the job outlook for PMHNP's? was it hard to find your first job? What kind of places do you work at? I know it's a lot of questions but I would appreciate any feedback, or advice anyone has to offer
  7. @Rob_RN I'm from NYC. I got my BS in Biology and Psychology. I actually wasn't expecting to get into many schools because I graduated with a 2.96 gpa. However, i did spend a year retaking prereq classes and got all A's, so im sure that really helped. I also have 2 years exp in the mental health field so that, along with great recommendations, probably boosted my application. Where else did you apply?

  9. Hey everyone, I was wondering if you guys could help me with an issue. I've been accepted into a couple of PMHNP programs, including Columbia's and i'm having trouble deciding which one to go to. What's sealing the deal for you guys when it comes to choosing a nursing program? How do you feel Columbia's nursing school compares to others around the country?
  10. Hey everyone, i got my acceptance letter to Vandy's PMHNP pre specialty program today! The thing is, I also got accepted into Columbia's PMHNP program as well and am having a hard time deciding which program I should choose. Is there anyone else in a similar predicament? What aspects about each program are helping you decide?
