  1. Hi, I will be graduating from my NP program in June as an ANP with a concentration in Occupational Health. I have been given the opportunity to work as an OH RN in disaster preparedness after graduating in an 18 month position. The NP jobs in my area (SF Bay Area) tend to be a bit scarce and actually don't pay that well for starting NPs. I plan to take the short term position as the OH RN. I feel it's an opportunity I can't pass up (and it pays better than new grad NPs) My only fear regarding taking this position is that I will forget some of the NP skills (predominately PE skills) I have just spent 2 years learning. Does anyone know of any NP refresher courses available? I know there are plenty of RN re-entry programs for those wanting to get back into the hospital I just wonder if there is something similar for NPs. Thanks Beth
  2. Hi, I have been a Tele RN since getting out of nursing school 1.5 years ago. I am thinking of making a change to the ED in about 6 months when the training programs begin at my hospital. I would like to hear from nurses about their thoughts on working in the ED and what skills/traits a person needs to work in the ED. My hospital is a teaching hospital and from my understanding for some of the RNs in the ED at my hospital the pts are more medical rather than trauma pts. Thanks Beth
  3. I am a NP student in San FRancisco, CA. Because of my chosen specialty I am not required to do a women's health, gyn, or STI rotation. I am looking for a preceptor who would be willing to teach me about GU exams in women or men for 40 hours between March-June (this could be done as 5 8-hour days or 10 4-hour days). I am in the east bay but could go to either SF or the north bay. If anyone knows of any bay area NP list serves feel free to post this message there. Thanks
