Prior ICU experience.... ?
Hey guys! I wanted to reach out on here as it is such a great resource! I had worked ICU and critical care transport for a little better than 6 years. Initially when I started nursing I was always interested in CRNA school. As life and other things came up I was slow to finish my BSN...and everything has taken me longer than I bargained for. Currently, I work in the cardiac cath lab. Have been there for a little over a year. My life has been much more controlled after the transfer so I have finally gotten back into school to complete my BSN. Looking ahead, I had kind of changed my sights to NP or PA. But after talking with some of the CRNAs I we work with, they have got me thinking about CRNA again. I know I have a lot or work to do yet to meet admission requirements and all. So, my big question is... I have the ICU experience, but will my 2-3 years away from it be an issue?? Some at work say no, others say its not even worth applying with that! Thanks! I look forward to hearing what the rest of the community has to say about it!

Cath lab interview...?
Hello All! I am seeking any insight or advice for the Cath Lab position I am interviewing for at the end of the week! My experience in primarily ICU, I have been a nurse for 5 years now and have spent the last year on the road as a traveler. The traveling idea is grand, but its just not for me. Regardless, I am interviewing for a full time cath lab position. It is in a small hospital and they only have one lab. I have very little exposure to the actual cath lab itself, however I am quite familiar with procedures done there. Anyone have any advice as to what to expect in the interview?? Or know if they are looking for anything inparticular for a cath lab position?? I know each place probably is looking for different things. I guess I am just looking for anything that may make me a little bit better prepared for this job as it is in a community I absolutely love and would like to establish myself in. Thanks in advance!

Can you truly save as a travel nurse?
Agree with the above! The pay has gone down in traveling... I have seen good bill rates, but it seems like the places people would actually want to go are more competitive therefore seem to pay less. I travel for destination, and as luck would have it, I am able to put away a fair chunk of change every month. Its all about budget. Many wealthy people have told me its not about how much you make, its about what you do with it.

Colorado Travel Nursing
Hello All, I have been a travel nurse for about a year now. I went into traveling to get to a place or two that I want to check out as I have long considered a permanent move to one of these places....primarily being Colorado! Long story short, I haven't had any success even finding travel jobs in CO. My recruiter says CO is a "very quiet state" for travel nurses. On the flip side, I know a few nurses in the Denver area and they say there are tons of travel jobs in the area...?!? Regardless, I am wondering if anyone out there knows of which travel agency may hold the most opportunities within CO? Or is there a local agency in Denver?? Co Springs?? Any and all insight would be appreciated! Thank You!
