  1. I have a chiropractic degree and a nursing degree. I would advise not going to chiropractic school based on poor reimbursement and lack cohesion in the field. That being said if your goal is chiropractic school you don't need a nursing degree. Chiropractic school is not competitive to get in. Some people I went to school with didn't have any undergraduate degree. If thats the goal you could apply and be accepted tomorrow. Good luck with whatever you decide.
  2. Hey all, I posted way back in 2012 when I was considering the same move from Chiropractic to CRNA. It's a long road, nursing school, ICU work and then CRNA school. With that said I am incredibly happy with the decision as I am in my first year of CRNA school. It's important to recognize that with nursing, as Chris has stated, there are a ton of options. Another chiropractor I know went the NP route and another works as the nursing director at a state hospital. If anyone here is considering the change I would humble suggest you go for it. Even my time as a bedside nurse in the ICU was substantially more satisfying to me than my time as a chiropractor. Good luck everyone with whatever you decide.
  3. Thanks for the update Chris. Yeah still practicing in a partnership but cutting back more and more. If I end up going the CRNA route it doesn't make a ton of sense for me continue to grow a practice. Good luck to you are your wife. -William
  4. Just wondering if there is an update to this story. I am chiro that is partway through my BSN (third BS :/). I entered with an NP goal but now find myself considering CRNA as the new summit. I realize how much more work and time the CRNA will be vs. the FNP (or DNP) and would really like input from someone who has done or is in the middle of the transition. Thanks.
  5. Hey all! I am looking to shadow a CRNA in the field in either Oregon or Washington. I am from Portland Oregon and don't really know the best way to accomplish this. I am a BSN student, and before I get jumped on for shadowing above my pay grade, let me explain my situation. I need to shadow a CRNA sooner rather than later not because I am going to attempt to enter CRNA school before I do 3-5 years in the ICU but because I need to make a choice between CRNA and FNP by the time I complete my BSN. I originally reentered school with a goal of FNP to supplement my chiropractic degree. After observing some CRNA's in clinical, I am now examining this as an option. I can either stick to the original plan and head to FNP school when I graduate or start looking for ICU work (or something that will lead to it). It all hinges on if I think CRNA is right for me, for which I need to do some shadowing. I would really appreciate any help and thanks for all the great info on this site.
