purpose of an MSN and related topics
Hello, so I'm wondering is there a purpose to getting an MSN if I don't want to teach nursing? I was also considering nurse practitioner later on. I'm graduating next year with an associates in nursing and I'm just looking at all my options. Do you need 2 years of experience before you begin a nurse practitioner program? that's what it seems like? All opinions welcomes. Also, I hear about all these certificates. I want to make sure I have all the info.

Is Nursing Central worth the money??
my clinical instructor suggested we get nursing central for clinicals but it's 159 bucks for a year subscription so I'm wondering if anyone else has used it and if they think it's worth it?

How do clinicals work?
I'm in my second semester of nursing school and I was just wondering how many clinical hours most nursing schools have. I'm getting one clinical a week for 12 hours, and then 2 days of surgery this semester. We then have 3 hours of lab where we learn skills. This doesn't seem like that much to me and I know I'm only in my second semester but I feel like we haven't learned that much practical stuff yet. Does this sound unusual?

difficult to find a job with an ASN?
yes, I'm trying to find a job in a hospital now, but some of the hospitals require a 2 week orientation which doesn't work with my school schedule. I got called for an interview for a place last semester and I filled out the app in the summer when I had plenty of time and by the time they called me I was back in school. I'm still filling out apps tho.

difficult to find a job with an ASN?
if you don't mind me asking, which state are you in? I'm hearing alot of hospitals aren't hiring ASN's in my area, but some are willing to hire you if you sign a contract you'll get a BSN within 5 years. I def plan on getting the BSN, but I feel like if it's between an ASN going for a BSN and someone who already has the BSN, they'll choose the BSN.

Fundamental in nursing
def not a simple course by any means, but it probably depends on who your teacher is. My teacher didn't teach much and pretty much expected us to teach ourselves and as a result half the class failed out. Be careful.

difficult to find a job with an ASN?
Hey, I already have a bachelor's, but I'm going back to school for nursing and I just finished fundamentals. I'm in an associates program because I didn't do that well in undergrad (2.99 gpa). However, I'm doing rly well now due to maturity and way more focus than I ever had in college. I'm def planning on going for the bachelor's, but I want to work as a nurse while I'm doing it and I'm worried no one will hire me without the bachelor's and I'll be stuck working a minimum wage through the bachelor's program. I'm already 25 so by then I'll be 27/28 and I don't want to be in school forever or living at home forever. Is it impossible to find a job with an associates or are most hospitals willing to hire you if you say you are going for a bachelor's?

Applying to community college nursing programs...gpa?
yea, I know it's based on some kinda points system but they don't really explain it too well in the packet so I'm not sure how many points you get per gpa. I guess I'll just hafta wait til march, I'm not that patient:(

applying for community college nursing programs....gpa?
Hi, I was just wondering what is the gpa that most people need to get into a nursing program at a community college, I have a gpa of 3.37. Is this good enough? I've heard some crazy things like you need a gpa of 3.75, is this right?

Is chemistry hard?
it depends where you take it. I took chemistry at rutgers, and alot of people are known to fail the class, because their program is very difficult. My recommendation to you is to def not take bio and chem together because I tried that and as soon as the bio test came around, I didn't have time to study for chem and I fell behind, which is when it all went downhill. I managed to pass the class but barely. You def need to focus if the program is difficult. However, I took another chem class at the community college and found it very easy. I also got an A in chem in high school so I wasn't necessarily bad at it, I just fell behind and with chem everything builds on top of each other so those who fall behind rarely catch up, especially at rutgers' program. I suggest you look into the college's program and get other peoples feedback on the chemistry courses.
