  1. Hi everybody. I'm currently working on my pre-nursing certificate at Midlands Tech in SC. I'm almost done with it and will be completed after i take 2 more classes in the summer. I have the option to take my microbiology class after i complete A&P 2 in the summer but it's not considered a pre-req. My question is..what are other classes I can take, if any, that are directly associated with the nursing program but can still be taken outside of it, after I finish my pre-reqs? I know i should talk to my advisor and I will make an appt with her as soon as I can. But i keep hearing people say that I can take other nursing related courses (the ones that start with NUR, and whatever associated number..like NUR 105 for example) while waiting to get into the program. Just seeing if anybody has any info on this. Thanks is advance, and I hope I didn't confuse you guys too much haha.
  2. Thanks. I knew it was going to be a tough process, but reading your post just scared me a little lol..only because i have 2 small kids who will need a lot of my time too. If it weren't for that, I don't think I would be as scared of the whole process of tough classes and such. But I'll get thru it, I'm not giving myself a choice :-)
  3. Thanks so much. I've been looking over the pre-nursing certificate curriculum and the nursing curriculum to see if I'm missing something and the certificate doesn't have those classes listed on them to say that I need them before I actually start the nursing program. Regardless, I'm definitely going to get them out of the way because I want to solely focus on the clinical classes so that I'm not anymore overwhelmed than I need to be at the time..haha..especially with 2 little ones. They will be 21 months and 10 months when I start school in the fall. Call me crazy lol, but I'm doing this for them and will do whatever it takes to get it done. I'm definitely going to sto; talk to my advisor though about these classes when advisement starts in May. Thanks for your response :-)
  4. I'm currenty enrolled to start classes in the pre-nursing certificate program at tech in the fall. I previously took some classes before in this program but had to stop going. I'm going back and will only have 3 classes to take until im done with the certificate. I was looking at the actual nursing curriculum and saw that there are other classes, besides the nursing classes of course, that I was wondering if I could take while im in the 2 year waiting period such as the microbiology, prob & stat math class, and the approved elective? Even though there aren't too many classes , I would love to get those out of the way so that while in the actual nursing program, i could solely focus on the clinicals and nothing else. Any info is helpful. Thanks so much.
