Health Dept Issue
OK, here is the update. It was about TB. Wow, all that secrecy for TB? I mean, thanks for letting me worry all night about pretty much nothing. We went over the case and plan of action. That's all I can say about it, but definitely not something that needed all that 'cloak and dagger' approach, as one of the commenters stated. Thanks for your help and support!

I did verify that they work there. They called my boss to set up the meeting. Then they called me by accident, and it was a health dept phone number.

I thought of TB and STDs. But why all the secrecy? Why not let us know something so we can prepare for the meeting? Is that normal for the health dept? Our district has never had the health dept set up a meeting like this before.

Health Dept Issue
Hi all! I have been a school nurse for 2 years. Today, I received an email stating that the health dept is sending an agent and their supervisor who needs to meet with me, the principal, the lead district nurse, HER boss, and another admin tomorrow regarding an urgent health matter at my school. The person at the health dept also said that they could not tell us what it was about, and did not want to give my boss their email for a calendar invite. I am FREAKED out! The only possible thing I can think of is TB, but why all the secrecy? Does anyone else have any experience with sudden health dept meetings at school?

School Clinic Budgets
We do not get to put in a request for funds. Our principal just assigns us a budget amount for the year. It's entirely up to the principal at each school how much we get. I've never been asked about what I need. My school is the 'poorest' in the district as far as median income of our students' parents. We do not have to pay to replace AEDs/batteries out of our individual clinic budgets. But I do have other big ticket items that I cannot buy because I don't have the funds. I've been paying out of my own pocket for supplies and equipment once my budget runs out (usually in March). Thank you for your input, it will help me with my budget proposal, for sure.

School Clinic Budgets
Hi all, I am an RN for a high school of 2500 students. We have 4 high schools in our district, all with about the same amount of students. My high school clinic budget is about 2/3 less than any of what the other three high school nurses get. Principals at each school set the budget, so I have to write a budget proposal for my principal, to convince her that we need as much as the other schools. I have not found anything online as far as information on high school clinic budgets. The other district nurses tell me that $1 per student is usually the norm. Does anyone know where I can get some information about clinic budgets for high schools? Also, would you mind doing a poll for me? That might help me see where others stand. Thanks, really appreciate any responses!
