  1. everyone, just wanted to give everyone a heads up that I was a non select. my recruiter didnt have a reason why. just sucks that this is my second rejection. maybe this just isnt meant in the cards for me and my family. I truly believe that every thing happens for a reason. it's a bummer yes, but i'm not going to dwell on it though. good luck to everyone else waiting.
  2. hey everyone, I was just getting on here to let you know that results are starting to get posted. I have not heard anything yet but this guy that was in my class at school just got a call and he was a select and will be stationed at lackland in texas. he got a psych nurse position. im getting more nervous now that i know people are starting to get calls. he has the same recruiter i do so hopefully i get a good news call soon. congrats carlily, #4 alternate aint bad at all.
  3. hey jilly, it is really hard to say what happened. when mine got sent back in november, my recruiter told me that just "a bunch" got sent back because there were too many applicants and to apply them to the next board. I think he told me there were 1100 total but that included all health proffession not just nursing. then again, arent there always alot of applicants for these boards? LOL. its so competitive that im surprised that they dont do this more often. when that happened to me in november, my recruiter said that he had never heard of apps getting sent back like that so it was a first for him but it seems like it is getting more common each time i guess. let me know what he says tomorrow. keep your head up as we are all trying to do!!!!
  4. hey jilly, yeah, hopefully only some were sent back. I texted my recruiter but he hasnt gotten back with me yet. I am really hoping too that just some of your recruiters got sent back like mine then but then again why would they have another board just for them or maybe there were just alot and they didnt want to look at that many at one time. if thats the case then maybe they only accepted half the slots and are saving the other have for next months board? who knows, this is just gonna drive me crazy and make me think of crazy thoughts. All i know is that my recruiter has always been quick about contacting me if anything was wrong so i am hoping if my packet got returned then I will hear something real soon before they start calling with selection results. fingers crossed-BIG TIME. LOL. talk to you soon.
  5. hey everyone, I tried to contact my recruiter and as soon as I find out something then I will let everyone know what I hear. hopefully it is not the same but if he doesnt say the same thing then I will be really confused. My excitement just went from high to low. one thing I was just thinking about was back in november when my packet was sent out, my packet got returned from texas before the board even met so this is just weird to me but who knows. nothing surprises me anymore.
  6. jillyRN, are you freaking serious? I had to go throught this-this past november in regards to my packet being sent back with other packets, now my packet is being sent back again? my recruiter has not contacted me about my packet being sent back again. if this is true for my packet then that really bites the dust again!!!! if the boards meet in a month then it will be two months before we find out cause it takes about a month after they meet to find out. I am going to text or call my recruiter right now. goog luck to all the specialties waiting results.
  7. brownjkAF, so, you are prior service and still was a non select before? wow, now I am more confused about what the selection board is looking for!!!
  8. hey mamakellyd, I cant remember, are you applying to be in the guard? I have never heard of doing an interview first and then starting the whole process. I am glad your interview went so well. I hope you have better luck than I did. My interview last year went super well and I still wasnt a select. my second interview for this selection board went just as well so I am just waiting these next few days to see if I get picked this time. Good luck to you:)
  9. psycheab, yeah, if I were you, I would contact another recruiter. This may be a dumb question, but are you sure you contacted the right recruiter? either way, someone should have gotten back with you. are you from cincinnati by chance?
  10. brownjkAF, I was fully qualified when I applied last february and had been a nurse for almost 4 years but I was still finishing up my bachelors degree and was scheduled to graduate until that august. my recruiter seems to think I didnt get picked up because i was still in school but who knows. now that I am done, if I get a non select again then i will automatically assume that wasnt the case the last time. I dont think that they look at the same criteria every time. I think that what they look for can vary all the time so it's so hard to know what they are looking for and thats why the recruiters tell you not to take it personal when your rejected but its still hard not to, ya know what I mean? are waiting on an anwer soon as well? talk to you soon.
  11. hey everyone, i have thought about contacting my recruiter but havent yet. LOL. I am hoping too that we hear something next friday and not have to wait any longer than that. like others, i have been throught this wait before. for some reason, i am not as nervous waiting this time but i know i will be once i see that phone ring with my recruiters name on it!!!! LOL. I agree, just try to stay busy this next week.
  12. hey mamakellyd, here are some things i was asked. 1. why do you want to join 2. do you know what the air force mission is and what it means to you 3. what are your future goals 4. how do you feel about deployment 5. describe a patient experience that involved critical thinking 6. describe a patient experience that involved an ethical dilemma 7. what are you exercise routines and what do you do to stay active/fit 8. think about what you have to offer and why you would be a good fit for the AF. if I think of anymore i will let you know. good luck on your interview this saturday.
  13. hey everyone, I havent heard anything new from my recruiter so i assume the results are still around the 8th. I am applying for a med surg slot as well. when I had applied to the february boards last year, i didnt get a call until about a week after the results were supposodly released. then again each recruiter could just be quicker on getting the answers out to their people quicker than others as well, so who knows. I am just glad that my packet didnt get sent back this time unreviewed to be sent for the next board like that just happened this past november board selection for me. LOL. since i didnt hear anything back from my recruiter this time, I am assuming my packet will actually be reviewed this time finally-LOL. good luck to everyone waiting:)
  14. hey jilly, I have not bugged my recruiter either. would they by chance notify us if they did delay the board meeting? hopefully these next few weeks fly by as well. Good luck to everyone waiting:)
  15. hey rayRn87, I am applying for a medsurg slot and waiting results. my recruiter told me from the get go that since I was a nurse for 4 years then i would go in as a 1st lt and I signed up for a 6 year committment so they could pay my college loans off and a 6 year is 20K sign on bonus. the 3 and 4 year are 30k sign on bonus. hope this helps.
  16. hey dreaming1007, I am glad to hear that someone likes the AF. I definitely am not going to base my decision on what someone else says but it is assuring to hear that you have had no regrets. since you have been in the AF before, you should have no problem getting picked back up i would think. i bet security forces was neat. I am waiting to hear if i got selected next month. good luck with NTP. have you ever been to eglin, nellis, robins or shaw. those were some of my picks. LOL. talk to you soon.
  17. hey dreaming1007, hi, were you doing a different job in the AF before becoming a nurse? how has your experience been in the AF? hopefully not like the one that mobostark is having. it really sucks to hear that but I cant imagine that every base is like that or at least i hope not. LOL. if thats the case, then count me out. LOL.
  18. hey mobostark, I am sorry you and your coworkers are having such a hard time where you are. what is a "flagship hospital"? do you think that it is like this at every base hospital or just maybe the one that your at? I am currently waiting on board results to come in sometime in the middle of march. I am really not sweating it at all. if its meant to be its meant to be as far as if i get selected or not. if i dont, i'm cool with it but if i do then i am ready to embark on this journey. If I get in, hopefully my experience will be alot better than you and your coworkers. im not sure on how to get out of your contract. just dont go awol!!!! that would be your first mistake. I am not sure if you are a guy or girl but during my CN interview, my colonel said that if a girl gets pregnant then they give her the option of whether she wants to continue to stay in or go a head and get out. I am definitely not telling you to do this as an option but it just came to my mind when you said you were looking for a way to get out. I would love to hear more about how your life is like as far as the benefits, housing, pay etc. talk to you soon.
  19. hey jilly, yeah im not getting my hopes up for early march either. I just had to go to my recruiters office this morning because my packet was already sent down to texas but they found some slip ups where forms said 2012 instead of 2013 so i had to come and resign them so it could be fixed before the board meets on the 19th. i know these are minor things to fix but its still nerve wracking though. I just want it to be march and find out my fate and hope I get picked this time and not be a non select again. im trying to stay positive but not get my hopes up too high that way I would rather be pleasantly surprised then have my hopes up so high that the let down hurts worse, ya know what i mean? its such an emotional roller coaster. LOL.
  20. ljv84, this might be silly, but I wonder how hard the academic tests are in cot. i am a horrible test taker. from what i have heard, you cant fail COT nor has anyone failed COT. it seems intimidating. i think the fear of the unknown is what can drive you crazy. LOL.
  21. ljv84, thanks for all of the great information. that sucks that you didnt get anything on your wish list of places to be stationed. I hope that if I am selected that I at least get one of my picks but as long as I get in thats all that matters. talk to you soon.
  22. hey ljv84, yeah, I too am interested in knowing what COT is like. what kind of exercises do they do, what kinds of class work briefings, presentations etc. overall, is it really hard is pretty easy? thanks for the info.
  23. hey jilly, oh yeah, I forgot to mention PT. LOL. ya know, its so hard to plan and try to think what would be good enough for COT. I have always done a little bit of everything. I HATE running but I do it anyways (with my IPOD especially) cause doing so with music doesnt make it seems as bad. LOL. I do my push up and sit ups. cardio and weight lifting. I agree, sit ups suck big time. I am trying to get even better on those though. I just try to mix it up and try different things to always keep my body surprised and challenged.
  24. hey jilly, thats awesome!!! I have to agree with you on the AF. everythings just seems nicer as far as housing, stations, education etc. ya know, I cannot honestly say that joining the military has always been a dream of mine. I have always had an interest in it and thought it would be cool. now, I think that I have matured to a point where I am not afraid to take big chances and step out of my comfort zone. I have never been a shy girl but I have always been afraid of failing. after I had kids, at first I could never see myself moving away from my mom since she is such a big help in baby sitting for my husband and I but now I am just ready to get out of my shell a bit and explore the world if that makes sense. I had a very sheltered life and there is so much i wanna see and do and I feel that the military would provide that best for me and my family plus I am doing what I love at the same time which is nursing:) another thing too, is me and my husband have been through a lot and it almost seems like moving away and joining the military would almost be like a fresh start, ya know what I mean? I know it will all work out for all of us wether or not we get selected or not. I am just taking it as -if its meant to be it will happen. talk to you soon.
  25. carlily, ya know, I would say you have a huge advantage of getting selected since you are already in the ANG. I cannot see why they wouldnt want to select you since your already in the military, ya know what I mean? although, I have read stranger things on this site and hearing about people that have seemed like the perfect fit and didn't get selected. I think the biggest mystery is knowing what they look for. I would guess that it varies from day to day or at least that what it seems cause there have been people that have been non selects and have reapplied and reapplied and then got selected so who knows. I do wish you good luck on your progression with the AF. since your familiar with alot with the AF, i would think that your transition would go smoother than say-with someone like me who doesnt know a lick about being in the service. LOL.
