  1. I landed on a PCA job in a 500-bed magnet hospital before taking my NCLEX-RN. After I passed the exam, I talked to my manager if she can help me transition from being a PCA to an RN and she agreed. Unfortunately, the receiving department has the final say. To cut the story short, I ended up resigning and grabbing a GN position in a rural hospital. Moral of the story: Big things starts with small beginnings.
  2. If she is your fiancé, why not petition her using the K1 Visa?
  3. I would like to tell anyone who's planning to apply for the NCLEX-RN outside their home state to apply for non-Compact member states. Compact states advise applicants to apply in their resident states. This means that there's a high probability that you will be questioned on your application if you're a resident of California trying to apply for the NCLEX-RN exam in Texas. That'll end up in investigation by your prospect state, like say for example the Texas Board of Nursing will then communicate with California Board of Nursing and eventually issue you the same recommendation made by CaBRN, unless you're a first time applicant and planning to move within 6 months and if the CaBRN did not screw your records yet. Anyhow, try other non-compact states first. (https://www.ncsbn.org/nlc.htm)
  4. What do you mean it ended right there?
  5. Hi Shawie, I think not. You can download their application packet here with their guidelines for international graduates. :)
  6. Yes you need to take a nursing remedial training program as required by the board.
  7. I am aware of the CES Report being required by the board and I already applied to CGFNS. Yes I am a first timer and I never took any NCLEX-RN examinations yet. But according to the Florida BON application form Section 3 (Applicant Background), there's a question stated: K. Have you been denied or is there now a proceeding to deny your application any healthcare license to practice in Florida or any other state, jurisdiction or country? And the guideline said, "If you answered "Yes" to question K in this section you must submit a self explanation as to why you are answering "Yes" to this question." And isn't the Philippines exempted by the board for english proficiency requirements as stated?
  8. Is there anyone out here who was denied eligibility of NCLEX-RN application from other states and decided to apply to Florida Board of Nursing? I just want to have some background on what will I write on the required letter of explanation of the Florida BON why I was denied from CaBRN due to concurrency issues. Big help needed. Thanks! :)
  9. I have been also denied of eligibility due to the discrepancies of my theoretical and clinical practice by the CaBRN. I am now planning to apply at Vermont State, however I am having second thoughts because there is a question on their application packet that says: "Has Vermont or any other state, federal authority, or other jurisdiction (US or elsewhere) ever denied your application for a license, certificate, or registration in any profession or occupation? If "Yes", attach an official copy of the order or the official notification of the action." Can someone enlighten me about this? I just want to maximize my resources and manage it efficiently.
  10. Yes there is. In fact they've changed the curriculum again last 2010.I was also denied application and I was so ****** to think that some of my classmates are working as RN's in California.I think they are trying to regulate the influx of foreign nurses.Mag CGFNS then apply here in Texas.
  11. I think my school commited a mistake. I called my aunt who is a dean for 30 years till now and she told me that when she reviewed my papers from my school, they(my school) should've put the exact time and dates when I had my clinical preceptorship. Never thought she was right. OMG!!! I feel so stupid. What should I do?? ((
  12. I graduated in a University in the Philippines whereas some of my colleagues who are already working as nurses in California also finished their BSN. That's why I find it ridiculous. Screw it! I'll just apply here in Texas after my evaluation from the CGFNS.
  13. ok, so the other day i was just worrying about the status of my nclex application. just yesterday, i received a letter from the cali-bon telling me that they had evaluated my application documents and they find the bsn program i had completed was not equivalent to the minimum requirement for licensure as set forth in business and professions code sec. 2736. i find it very confusing because i have classmates and schoolmates who are working as nurses in california. the letter further said: is my school the one at fault or did the cali-bon change their policies regarding nclex-rn? (
