  1. I live in Maplewood at the Oakdale border.. The drive is a hassle sometimes (especially with bad weather) but has totally been worth it. Good luck with everything!
  2. Have you looked into North Hennepin Community College? CNA is not a requirement for admission to their nursing program, just a thought.
  3. Thank you for the encouraging words!!! Although a recommendation from a nurse would be so much more relevant, there are no RNs at my clinic. I'm hoping they strengthen my application! EEE!
  4. That thought has crossed my mind, however I work at a clinic where there are no RNs. Thanks though!
  5. Nike Shox, hands down. I HATE clogs, Crocs, etc.
  6. Have you looked at the study guide book for it? I bought it off Amazon for like $25. It was helpful to get an idea of what would be on it. I would get familiar with the material in there. The lowest scoring sections for me were Anatomy (which is crazy cause I use terminology on a daily basis) and chemistry and biology. I would refresh my brain with general bio and chem stuff, as well as A&P terms. For the math section, I got 98%, just making sure I took my time and double-checked, actually triple-checked my answers!! The study guide was very helpful, I'll say again. Good luck!!!
  7. I think this is a great topic to write about, especially if it is 100% true and the real inspiration for you to become a nurse. If you are truly questioning whether or not this is appropriate to write about, you should contact admissions or whoever would be reading the essays. I think an important thing to keep in mind, is that this is a touchy subject, and although I don't think you would be writing this for attention or as a 'sob story,' people are very judgmental and you may get that reaction! best of luck!
  8. Thank you so much!! The doctors I work with are nothing but supportive of me, and they really are encouraging any further education I can do. They really feel I have potential and are impressed with the work and skills and knowledge I have, so I'm hoping that's conveyed in the letters and they won't be overlooked. I'm just really nervous because I have a 2.81 GPA and everyone that I've known to get into the program so far has had a GPA of over 3. We'll see! Thank you so much for your words of encouragement!!
  9. I am applying for a nursing program starting Fall of 2012, and I'm curious if anyone has input of how helpful letters of recommendation are. I am currently a certified medical assistant at a clinic, and the two family practice MDs have written solid letters of recommendation for me. I'm curious to which degree this may help me. I'm applying at North Hennepin Community College in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota.
