  1. Hey Obizyanka, it doesn't hurt to go ahead and apply to the program but I would suggest fully working full time in the ICU as compared to part time. It will show ur full dedication to critical care in my opinion. And if you can do the CCRN too that's a plus on your application. The schedule is changing from what we are experiencing but I can tell you it will be busy and you will get good experience but you have to be willing to put in the time and effort into your own learning. That said, let us know if you have any other questions.
  2. Congrats lmh364, we will see your cohorts in August:-) I also second Rhino's comment. We will try not to...no guarantees however...enjoy your time before school starts!
  3. To those inquiring about the interview process, sorry I was not able to get back to all of you due to school's very busy schedule. To the people who interviewed, has any of you heard anything back yet? Just curious to know who the new guys will be next year :-)
  4. Hey Kiring, congrats on getting an interview at Scranton. I sent you a PM.
  5. Thanks for the clarification dwggccrn, I hope the info will help ICUjjp with his/her decision :)
  6. U of Phoenix costs around $887 per credit. For a 3 credit class, you will spend close to $3k. Try and do a live chat with one of their experts. They will give you an accurate data on pricing. They took their prices off the internet a while ago when people were complaining it was not worth the money . Looking forward to meeting you all as well. I will be travelling to the area at the end of June to find us a place to live :-) If any of you will be in the area, holla!!!
  7. Thanks Rhino, I think we just need PA and NY license at this time. I'll try and do that child abuse thing online. MSICURN, I can not answer your question. I would be interested in whatever you find cos, my PALS gonna expire in December. Either way, ACLS, PALS and BLS are easy to renew online anyways.
  8. In acquiring your NY license, is anyone asking for exemption to the infection control and child abuse requirements, or taking the two hour class for each requirement?
  9. I guess that is a oops, mine is the associate director also.
  10. Mine is Dr. *****also. Maybe she is on vacation :-)
  11. I emailed my mentor, no response yet. I guess the mentor has to register us for classes.
  12. Thanks dwgg, I looked into the place.
  13. I have no idea when, I'm in the process of getting my PA license to begin with :-)
  14. PS: To all thinking about taking classes to lighten the load: Got this from PD a maximum of 3 credits can be transferred for this program - the grade needs to be B or better, course taken within the past 6 years AND the course needs to be a direct match to ours. So I guess I am SOL on my thoughts on transferring my research classes because it has a different name . Oh well.
  15. Thanks dwgg, I think I will call them tomorrow just to make sure I can transfer those six credits from research I and II. I don't have the class Issues in Advance practice nursing yet, and I guess, I wont take it if it wont transfer. Rhino, I would say try U of Phoenix also, see if they have the research class. MSICU, welcome to the forum and looking forward to meeting you all. So question for you all, since I will be moving my family across the country from Seattle, does anyone know where I should be renting? Talked to grad admissions and SON and they said most of the classes this first year will be at the hospital based SOA for the first year, it will change however next session when they will transition to the University based classes. So any ideas, I am currently thinking Scranton area vs Wilkes-Barre. Any ideas?
  16. Oh ok, thanks Rhino. I mailed my letter of acceptance back today. Funny still though I didn't get a call from the PD. Anyways where will you guys be coming from? I will be coming from Seattle.
  17. After this quarter, I am actually one quarter away from being done with my Masters of Nursing from the University of Washington. I should be able to transfer my Research I and II for the second year in anesthesia school. So Yea, dwgg, it would help a lot if you get some of those classes out of the way.
  18. Congrats to you also Rhino, I am feeling left out bc I haven't gotten my phone call yet....but I received my letter of acceptance yesterday also and it says the same contingency thing. But I looked through that link posted and they have their 10 yr accreditation already. My guess is that since they are the sole provider of anesthesia now, they are modifying clinical structure maybe. If you call on Monday Rhino, can you update us? Thanks guys and congrats to you all.
  19. Congrats, wwwdwgg. I am still waiting for a call I guess. Hope it comes soon too, cross my fingers.
  20. So I talked to Grad admissions, just curious if the letters we got was actually a "yes you got in, but we have to wait for commonwealth Health" and they said, its no guarantee a decision letter. Kinda sucks but decisions still holding out until Aug 1st latest from my understanding:banghead:!
  21. I really do hope their negotiations get resolved here pretty soon. I still think it is very unfair to use student admission as part of their bargaining points:no:!
  22. It said that, but mine sure did not have an envelope in the package, i was looking for it all over the place...lol. What address was on yours?
