successful becoming a RN as a young single mom?
So i have been reading up on becoming a nurse and more and more i read that nursing school will become your life and you won't have time for much of anything else. Well im a young mom,21, i had my son at 19 and have been financially unstable for the 2 years of his life. I have been stuck for the two years as i could not drive or get around and no money or car to help improve that issue. My dad finally helped me with a car and now im finishing up my driving lesson so i can start working etc. As excited as i am im beginning to worry (God forbid) that i won't be able to handle the work load and still give my son all he needs. I don't mind sacrificing my social life i have never really had one but my son, i can't. He might be (quite sure he will be) diagnosed with autism and as you guys know the first 5 years are crucial to his development even more so than if he were not to have ASD. Plus he has never been to daycare, and although he is in therapy he still needs help daily. He isn't severe (lets hope for no regression) but he has no speech as of late. I worry nursing will consume me and one will suffer. And then what if i start nursing get a distance and fail because its hard and/or i couldn't balance work, school and an autistic child. Sometime I wonder if i should do something else but i think what? I can't think of anything. Im more passionate about nursing than anything else. Has anyone had a similar situation as me and made it through? As anyone become single mom very young, and had to work but still managed to successfully become a RN. Any stories or advice are much welcome and appreciated. Thank you.

Can a single mother survive on less than 20,000 per year?
filled out FAFSA already i qualify for the full amount and yes i know that i need education and that i have to make the sacrifices. Some people say i just need to work a crappy job until the baby can attend school but that wont help either of us. i have the youth and opportunity to go get a career now and im going for it. After all this wasnt my original dream to begin with. Im only doing this to make sure my son is secure while i go for what i really want to do. Thanks again

Can a single mother survive on less than 20,000 per year?
a full time student, working as a cna, child in daycare at the college, small car, takes bus to school daily, one bedroom apartment or an apartment shared with a roommate, a infant son, no child support, medicaid as child's insurance, high school graduate etc. ambitious and will to make this work. is it possible for my infant son and i to live okay on a cna salary while i attend school to become an rn with an associates degree and a bsn rn immediately after? i"m so scared i won't be able to and that i will end up below the poverty line and stuck with family who don't want me around. [h=2]additional details[/h]i will be living in texas around dallas, attending a community college, i don't currently live on that as yet. i'm still pregnant and still currently live a home with parent. don't have a car as yet because my "father' used my pregnancy as an excuse for not wanting pay for things like buying a car (i'm guessing its too much money to spend on the bastard daughter) so i'm not sure if i will buy one or what will happen there. im trying to map out my future is all. no credit cards unless its prepaid. and maybe if i can't help it i would apply for snap benefits but i don't believe in using government help just to be above comfortable when some other family needs it just to survive. i'm young i can work, pick up extra hours if i need to. right now all i want to take is medicaid for my son. and when it comes to child support the man i was seeing lied to me about everything pertaining to his life. i don't know his real name, address or anything. i found out he lied about basically everything after i got pregnant and he started to worry about me putting him on child support so the most i can do is pick him out of a line up and give his cell phone number. either way i don't want such influence in my son's life anyways. he says he has 3 other children so if he didn't man up for them he won't for mine. all i receive is empty promises. filled out fafsa already so hopefully that and scholarships will take care of school. they said they don't expect me to pay anything since i have a dependent. Can a high school graduate(18yrs)do an accelerated BSN program without qualification?
i'm about to graduate high school this june and i don't really want to do the whole five years of university to get a bsn. before i thought my plan to get an associates degree in rn was good enough to get me started but now i'm hearing that hospitals aren't really hiring rn's with associates because they have to go back to school anyways. i heard about accelerated bsn programs but i'm not sure if i can go straight into one? can someone explain to me all i need to do to get into one of these programs and also where are these programs offered. please explain all you know about these programs please and thank you.

Is it smart to work as both CNA and a RN(associates degree)?
Say i worked as a CNA during college to get an associates degree in RN, and i wanted to work as both of these after i finish school. I mean i would work part time as a CNA and full time as a RN. Is this smart are stupid would i make more money just working as RN? Would it be extremely time consuming? And also would i have much time for my son? And say in about a year or so i wanted to go back to school also? Does any of this seems doable or stupid?
