I just started per-diem/PRN in Dallas last month. I'm an ICU nurse and staffing needs have been erratic. I'm averaging one shift a week. Some nurses I know have multiple agency's to get enough shifts. Flexibility is great, but not if you get cancelled, which you are first to be cancelled. Definitely not a secure business move. I'm with Baron HR, I see a lot of AdvantageRN staffers. Most ask for 3-5 years' experience. I'm making around $34/hour take home. Another thought is to work system float pool for someone like THR or Baylor... float between 2-3 facilities in your specialty.
