Thanks CCU - that makes me feel a little better! I was actually surprised to see people in other threads mention that their pre-employment physical asked for LMP - I would have never even thought they'd ask that! Oh, we are very excited - been trying for years so I won't be apologizing when I tell my manager, but want to inform her early on and be up front about it with her. Funny that while I was shadowing on the unit, one of the night nurses called to say she was in labor that morning - I was told they'd had a bit of a baby boom on the unit lately and they warned me to "stay away from the water". I took a HPT that night and got my first positive, lol.

haha - I won't even run up to the grocery store looking like that so no worries about showing up at an interview in such a state. Thanks for all the opinions! I wore it down to my interviews and up for my shadowing and was offered a position yesterday!

Robin, just wanted to let you know how my experience turned out. I had two interviews last week. One I mailed the TY as soon as I got home from the interview. The other one, I emailed the TY a few days after my interview (after I shadowed on the unit). I got an offer yesterday from the unit where I emailed the letter...so at least in my experience, emailing seems to be alright. Good luck in your job search!

Thanks for your response! I'm actually not even 8 weeks yet - I think I should be fine, but will still double check with my dr. My assessment appointment isn't until next week. I've seen some people mention (in other threads) that their hospitals ask your LMP or if you're pregnant on the med history - is this true for the Clinic as well? I'd hate for my manager to see that in my file before I have a chance to tell her personally. FWIW, I plan to tell her soon, just want to wait until after we see a heartbeat. Thanks!

Congrats on your pregnancy! I am in a similar situation as I just accepted a position as a new grad - and found I was pregnant that evening. I'm only 4 weeks along (will be 6W when I start), so it's still quite early, but I'm uncertain how to handle telling my manager. Also, I am required to undergo a physical capability assessment and I just read the guidelines for the assessment. One of them indicates an injury, severe illness or pregnancy may require the assessment to be postponed. I'm going to call my doctor to ask him opinion on completing the assessment at this time, but I'm almost thinking the reason they may postpone d/t pregnancy is for women further along, the belly may inhibit their movement and interfere with their completion of the assessment. has anyone started at the clinic and undergone the physical capability assessment while pregnant? i was reading the guidelines for the assessment and one of them states: 6. be aware that an acute and/or aggravated injury, symptoms of severe illness, or pregnancy may require that the assessment be postponed.7 i'm debating whether to mention my pregnancy now or wait (i just found out), especially since it says pregnancy require it to be postponed. from watching the video, i'm almost thinking they would be more inclined to postpone for someone who's farther along (i.e. who's belly might limit movement and interfere with the test). i'll definitely ask my doctor before i go for the assessment, just wondering if anyone else has been in the same situation.

Robin, don't get too discouraged! I also graduated in May, took NCLEX in July and had ONE interview in 2011 that did not result in an offer. However, in the last 2 weeks, I have had phone interviews with three recruiters leading to 2 face-to-face interviews and shadowing experiences and I'm anticipating an offer for at least one of the positions, if not both. I know it sucks waiting, but things will eventually fall in place. I was getting very discouraged until I got that first phone call last week...now I feel like I haven't stopped running all week long with interviewing/shadowing. I hope your offer is just around the corner!

Glad to hear so many in favor of email. I had another interview this week followed by shadowing today. I was pretty much given an informal offer today. I want to send a thank you for the shadowing opportunity and would like it to get there before I get the official offer, so email is pretty much my only option in this instance. Thanks for all the opinions. For my first interview I pulled just the sides back so nothing was in my face, but it wasn't "up" either. For some reason, I think pony tails are informal and an updo/bun is too formal for an interview. I recently cut a lot of length off (but still below my shoulders) so I don't like the look of just the sides pulled back now. For yesterday's interview I just kept it all down and think I will do the same from now on.

Is it alright to send a thank you note via email if the manager provided their email during the interview? Or should it be sent via snail mail?

Obviously while working on a floor, I pull my hair back/put it in a pony tail. But for interviews, do you think it is alright to wear your hair down? Or should it be pulled back for interviewing as well? It's not like I'll be doing pt care and I almost feel that since I'm dressed up, I can wear my hair down done neatly, but I don't want to do the wrong thing.
