  1. I love hearing about everyone's acceptances! Keep em' coming and good job! I also believe in starting a Facebook group, that would be wise. My name is Bre Rimkus, and I'm pleased to meet you guys (:
  2. Congratulations to all! I too have been accepted for the January 2013 cohort and couldn't be happier or more excited! And for everyone on the waitlist, I bet you will get in! Don't give up. As for not hearing anything yesterday, do you have a Gmail account? It seems that the mail from Rush gets automatically filed as Spam. If you have Gmail, I'd double check your Spam folder because it's most likely there :) Good luck to everyone waiting and congratulations again to everyone accepted! We did it!
  3. Staysea13: I know a few people who have graduated from both programs. Those who attended DePaul said that they loved the fact that it was a little more flexible when it came to working and attending classes. I guess DePaul's classroom time isn't M-F, so they said that they were still able to hold down part-time jobs during the entire program. (I'm not 100% if this is still true or not) A downside to DePaul, from what they told me, is that since there is no affiliated hospital with DePaul University a lot of their clinicals were at awkward hours and sites. One person even said that her clinicals would get cancelled and switched at the last minute. Both programs are amazing, so good luck with your decision! I, too, am worried about the applicants with deffered enrollment who will be starting with the Spring 2013 cohort, but during my interview Molly said that we "shouldn't worry too much about it". I guess they were extremely selective this year as to the applicants that were to be interviewed, so I think the fact that we all got interviews is a good sign! (: I am such a ball of nerves and will continue to be until the final decision is made. Ahhh, good luck everybody!
  4. Hello all! I just found this post and I am very happy that I did. I am also applying for the January 2013 cohort and actually have my interview tomorrow morning! I'm very nervous and hope all goes well because acceptance into the program would be my absolute dream (as I'm sure it is for everyone on here!). I will let you all know how it goes so that if anybody has a question they can feel free to post here (: Good luck everybody!
  5. I was denied :/ good luck everyone!
  6. Every time I see a new email notification my heart skips a beat! I hope we hear by Friday or else all weekend I'll be tweaking out (even more so)
  7. During the FNP interviews, they told us we would be hearing the first week of May as well. Keeping my fingers crossed for everyone! I'm sooooooo nervous! I just want to find out already :/
  8. I am sorry to hear about everyone who received a letter of rejection I also think that everyone should still pursue this career if it is your goal! Rush and DePaul are amazing programs! If I don't get into UIC I am definitely applying! Loyola also has the ABSN program. Good luck to everyone! Jameese I also had my interview on Monday and am FREAKING out! How do you feel your interview went? I don't know if I exactly liked the group interview. I found it hard to fully demonstrate my personality, goals, and credentials. The staff members were all very nice, which was a huge plus! How did your interview go? Good luck awaiting the news! We hear first week of May, correct? Not too long to go
  9. I cannot tell you how helpful and reassuring your response was! Thank you so much!
  10. I actually have a few questions if you don't mind me asking. I'm interviewing for FNP and was just wondering what kind of questions they ask. I assume they will be generic like: why nursing? But did any questions catch you off guard? And one more, do you have younger students in your class as well? I'm turning 22 and am afraid that my age is too young since I "lack life experience". :/ Thank you so much for your time!
  11. I did see that! I was also looking through the old forums, and people for the same specialty did not always hear at once about interviews (especially for FNP!) One person received an email to interview weeks after others had heard. (:
  12. I'm trying to see if I can see who the email was sent to, and I cannot. It was definitely a generalized email so perhaps they're sending them out in shifts? My fingers are crossed for you guys!
  13. Just received an email to interview for FNP! Anybody else receive one as well? I truly hope you all did!
  14. Great job everyone so far who received an invitation to interview! Still no word for FNP. Anyone else hear anything yet? I am truly starting to get nervous now! It's almost the end of March However, I'm still being patient and hopeful! I know this process takes a lot of time. Sending positive vibes out for everyone!
  15. Congrats cbrennan1188! and anyone else who has received an interview thus far! I still haven't heard anything yet, and I applied for FNP as well. Do we only hear if we received an interview, or do they let us know if we have been rejected? I feel like a crazy person checking my email all the time! haha
  16. Thank you for posting this! I feel better knowing that. Good luck to everyone patiently waiting. This is so stressful! What specialty did everyone apply for? I applied to the FNP track. I hope my credentials are good enough
  17. What a small world, I'm right around where you live, too! Currently, I work as a CNA doing home health care, so I am not at an actual facility. However, during the summers I work at Mother Theresa Nursing Home. I wasn't able to still continue working there because I am still in my undergraduate years as well (a senior). So the 8.5 hour shifts were hard to fit in between my schedule and so I only worked on the weekends when school started. You will have no problem finding a job as a CNA in a nursing home! Even if it is only on the weekends or during the summer. Most facilities are in desperate need of help. You can even do the home healthcare route. It's much easier to do with a busy school schedule! And thank you for your wish of luck! If you have anymore questions, please feel free to ask. As with registering for Moraine's CNA course...register THE DAY OF and RIGHT ON TIME. All of the classes fill up within a few hours of opening. (at least the summer classes do). Best of luck!
  18. Hello! In response to Kubu22: I am not in the GEP program now, but I am a CNA and currently working as a CNA. I believe it will be very helpful, and if anything taking the course and working as a CNA will help you become extremely familiar with a job in healthcare. I know a lot of programs are long and expensive (I took mine at Moraine Valley Community College and it was 3 months and a tad more expensive). I'm not sure where you live, but I am on the southside of Chicago and there is a "ma and pop" type of joint across from Christ Hospital that is considerably less expensive and way shorter (so I hear from fellow CNAs). I'm sorry, but I'm not sure of the name, but I know it is on 95th street across from Christ.

  20. Hello everyone! Now that the deadline has approached, I couldn't be more nervous/excited. I do have a question, though. Did anyone else receive a "Missing Credentials" email this morning? I received one stating that I am missing my undergraduate transcripts even though I sent them well over a two weeks ago. I spoke with a lady today and she was unable to help because I have to wait till next week to call the College of Nursing. I was just wondering if anybody else ran into this problem? I'm nervous that they won't be submitted in time or something!
  21. Hello! I am also applying for the January 2013 class at UIC. I actually just took my GRE yesterday, and was wondering if anyone has a new range of acceptable scores in which UIC sees as competitive? I know the rank system changed and didn't know if anyone knew what kind of score UIC is looking for. I'm very nervous to be applying!
