Pitt CRNA Fall 2016/Spring 2017
Thanks for the congratulations. I was not aware that they had said at the interview that top candidates would be offered DNP. My understanding was because we applied in a transition year, they would offer both the MSN and DNP program and accept into both. I think more people wanted the MSN track, which is probably what caused the logistical problem (hence the waiting list for the MSN). Again, just my analysis of the information. Good luck to all!

Pitt CRNA Fall 2016/Spring 2017
I got a call today at 1500 that I had been accepted to the DNP program. The admissions coordinator said that it has been a logistical nightmare with the MSN/DNP program. I am #2 on the MSN waitlist, so it sounds like they are still calling/ accepting people.

Pitt CRNA Fall 2016/Spring 2017
I know, I was just hoping for something. I'm at that place where I need to start applying to schools again, and if I'm in id rather not shell out the time/money.

Pitt CRNA Fall 2016/Spring 2017
Thanks so much for your patience as we work through our process. The introduction of our BSN-to-DNP program has required working out some additional logistics. We are still in the process of making decisions and notifications. I wanted to be clear that your application is still under active consideration. We are moving as quickly as we can but expect that this process will continue over the course of the next few weeks. Again, thanks for your understanding.

Pitt CRNA Fall 2016/Spring 2017
Just called to see if they had any updates. As of 2PM today they hadn't made any calls, and while they said soon, there was no definitive time for when they would start.

Anyone heard back from Pittsburgh?

Pitt CRNA Fall 2016/Spring 2017
I got a call yesterday for an interview. Sounds like they are doing the "speed dating" of interviews. People are interviewed in groups of 9 (I am pretty sure he said 9) and its a combination of walking around talking to the faulty and sitting down and speaking with them individually for 15 min eah. He also said there would be a information presentation on the school. Good luck to all!!!

Decisions, decisions!
GRE 314, 3.5 gpa . I have 2 years ER, 1 year OR, and currently just over a year of CSICU experience at a Level one hospital. I have never been to Portland before, so if anyone has an interview and wants to meetup/direct me to one of the great microbreweries I have heard of I would definitely be up for it!

Decisions, decisions!
Hi all, I am fortunate enough to have gotten interviews at Samuel Merritt and OSHU. I've scoured the forum for information about both schools, but was hoping someone would shed some more light on the OSHU interview process, experiences about either school, and in the end, which one is the better program. I know I am jumping the gun a little, and I may not get into either, but I figured I would start gathering information! Thank you all!

Samuel Merritt University CRNA 2016
I applied too! Sounds like January 8-11 or January 20-22 is when they send out interviews. My google search brought me to two samuel merritt admission timeline sites with both of those dates!

CCRN
Hi all, I have been an ER nurse for 2 years. I eventually want to work in ICU so I can go for my CRNA. In your opinion should I sit for my CEN or can I go ahead and get CCRN? I already have ACLS, PALS, TNCC, and ENPC. My decision is will a school like CEN or CCRN better, and will my work experience qualify me for the CCRN? (I've worked at a trauma III )

First Screw-upp
Update: The nurse who gave the dilaudid ended up getting spoken to by risk management, because I was on orientation and didnt give the drug they didn't fault me. Thank you everyone for answering me, I will remember this forever!

First Screw-upp
So in our hospital the nurses will put in orders that the doctors had written. The nurse before me put in 4mg Dilaudid IV and that is what I signed off on the computer. Basically she typed in the wrong route, but I didn't check the written chart. I have a meeting with my Nurse Manager on Wednesday to talk about the situation and the other nurse will be counseled as well.

First Screw-upp
So I have a situation. I am a new graduate working in the ER and am still on orientation. I was getting report and the pt I was with started complaining of pain. The nurse I was with said she had 4mg of Dilaudid IV ordered. Not thinking I asked if she would put in the order and get the medicine. She did and I witnessed her giving the IV dilaudid. She signed off in the chart, and I signed it off in the computer. My pt became somnolent and I had to administer Narcan, and then realized that the order was for 4mg dilaudid PO! My preceptor was livid, and I feel like a complete idiot for not checking/questioning the order. I wrote up the incident report, but I am not sure what to expect. Anyone have any advice/been through this?

How do I gain experience as a brand new nurse?
I am exactly like you. All I ever wanted was to work in the ER. I got my EMT license and Teched in an ER for a Year. Graduated with my BSN and managed to get a fellowship in the ER. After 2 months in, I finally understand why all my professors told me to go to Med surg first. Because I am in the ER my preceptor has very little time to teach me. I am expected to know all the assessment skills and findings immediately. It has been a huge learning curve with very little down time. I feel like an idiot all the time and wonder if I am ever going to be a good nurse. If I had it back again I would probably look at getting a job in Med Surg.
