Medical Assistant/FutureRN
I too am doing the same thing, starting as an M.A and hoping to eventually get to RN. Ive been told that M.A is a different route that would not pertain to RN because "RN is a nursing role and M.A is a behind the desk/paper work type of job"

Are Medical Assistants being phased out/ replaced??
I have seen a number of job post's for M.A's with 1-2+ years experience being a must. I know it is going to be like that with almost any career field I may choose to go in, so im still glad I choose to go down the M.A path =) I start school this sept. at an adult school so the cost is not as high in price as other schools ( very thankful I found it ) Does anyone have any experiences they can share about how they landed a job after graduating with lil-none experience?? I mean us M.A's would have to start somewere to gain the experience.. any suggestions on what to do to get started or know of any places that accepts new grads?? Any links or info would be appreciated but if not thank you for all the previous feedback!

Having a hard time finding an LVN program in SO.CAL
Thank you for the feedback! Yes you are right, all the schools within my area are too expensive. I feel trapped in a way because the only options I know of would be either Private school ($30k) or community college-which require pre-reqs that would take me years to complete. I would really like to get my education started and completed within a reasonable amount of time, that way I can start gaining my work experience because I know thats what alot of employers are going to be looking for. I will continue on with my searching and hope to find the answer im looking for =) thank you for the information I did check them out STILL TAKING ANY LEADS FOR SCHOOLS IF ANYONE HAS ANY. THANK YOU!

Having a hard time finding an LVN program in SO.CAL
Hello, I have been researching LVN programs within the southern california area from Chino to Arcadia ( between work and home). I found a low cost program with a starting date this September through Baldy view regional (rop). Unfortunately I did not pass the entrance exam and am no longer eligable for this program =( . Does anyone know any good LVN schools that are not a high cost private school or community college. I have been researching but have had very little luck. Thank you to any feedback

Starting as a CNA and working your way up the ladder
Thank You all for the feedback! Very helpful!! I seen a few programs near my house ( pomona Ca) that offer paid training for CNA courses as well as Red cross. I am not discouraged by the type of work a CNA does but I do hope to move up in the nursing field. I think CNA experience will look good on my resume and Im really leaning towards taking these steps. I currently work at the front desk of a hotel making 9.50 and hour, Im sure CNA's dont start at much but it would be a step into my career path. I do plan to further my education and I hope to find a ladder type program. Are there any other websites or certifications for a CNA that I can look into that can help with pay or education?? I do plan on going to a care facility to ask questions as well.. any feedback will still help! =)

Starting as a CNA and working your way up the ladder
I plan on starting my career path in the nursing field, however I will be starting off at the bottom of the chain by doing CNA work first. My question is how likely are the chances of me advancing my career in the nursing field by starting off as a CNA? I know there is always the options of going to school for MA or LVN but those courses are pricey and would put me in debt. A CNA course is alot easier to get into and less expensive than other courses to take in the nursing field but it is also alot of work. Are there any nurses out there who started off as a CNA and worked your way to something higher?? If so did you go back to school for that or did you get hands on training in the work field??
