  1. I found this article fascinating and it increased my interest in hospice as a career choice after I graduate. http://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2013/05/how-not-to-die/309277/ It is certainly a physician centric piece, as are most covering healthcare in traditional media, but I especially like that it ends with a hospice nurse saying 'the right thing'. It made me wonder if you all would agree the assertion that hospice is one area of healthcare, and nursing, that has an ideologically pure mission statement? Most other areas of healthcare seem to profit off of our dysfunctional system; ER, OR, ICU . . . and surely many hospice patients shouldn't be there in the first place (meaning if prevention was as integral as it should be). Do you as hospice nurses see the profit motive interfering with care the way it does in other aspects of nursing? Thanks!
  2. @ohellemarie Check out George Glade, APRN's book "The Stimulus Driven Brain." He's a psych APRN practicing in an urban ER & he also has a psych practice where he coaches ADD/ADHD students & professionals. His book is a great place to start - it's written for the ADD/ADHD college student. It's full of practical tips & advice for organization, study skills, etc. By the time you're done with that, his book on the ADD/ADHD professional should be out. His podcast area is also fairly useful, especially the one detailing the 'Good, the Bad, and the Ugly' of stimulant meds. http://stimulusdrivenbrain.com/
  3. Its all conjecture, but I've also heard from UW's recruiter that they prefer Shoreline's RN grads to UWs as they know they shoreline students had to work harder to get in and make the GPA than recent high school students coming through a 4 yr. I don't think one school vs another is all that important though.
