Nurse Recruiters are aware that for profit schools have been popping up all over the region to allow students who can not get into USF or University of Tampa or U of florida for BSN, and to HCC or Pasco Community College. The GPA required to get into the program approaches 3.8 and above. so those whose GPA is 3.0 go to these other schools. with the GLUT of NEW GRADS and the influx of Moms having to work full time + cuz Dad is unemployed and over 60 yo not retiring ( I know an RN at a surgicenter who is 79 yo and works 3 days per week) Nurses Managers (usually BSN) if able to choose will side with Traditional 4 yr BSN grads. (nothing personal just business) SPENDING 50K at ITT for an associates Degree RN is ECONOMICALLT STUPID- that same degree at HCC is much less. REMEMBER just because a school is allowed to graduate RNs doesnt mean it is good and the Graduation rate and subsequent EXAM rate , says a lot.
