  1. I was waitlisted for the ABSN. I heard they're no longer offering the AMSN program (which you probably already know) - figures! Good luck to you. I'm sure if you got waitlisted for the MSN, a BSN will be a shoo-in.
  2. Hi everybody! No information to share on the process (I've been to the info sessions) - just here for moral support through the waiting process. I applied to the ABSN program and I want to get in so badly I can taste it! I was waitlisted last year, but have made some significant improvements to my stats since then. Here's my stats: BA with highest distinction in Sociology/Studies in Women & Gender from the University of Virginia, 3.75 GPA Currently taking classes through PVCC and NVCC, 3.78 GPA Lifespan Development: A & B Anatomy and Physiology: B & B (raised the second one from a C since last application) Microbiology: A (hadn't taken micro yet at last application) I've also gotten my CNA license and am about to start a position in an oncology unit. Please keep your fingers crossed for me, guys! :)
  3. Meswaa, Thank you so much for reaching out to us! I wanted to ask a few questions in addition to Leestad949's: 1) Do you feel like you're getting a good value for the cost of the program? 2) How intense is the accelerated workload? I'm not afraid to work hard, but at the same time I don't want to feel overwhelmed. Any input would be awesome! :)
  4. Hi Pointe, I heard yesterday via a letter in the mail - I'm sure yours will arrive soon! :)
  5. Hi there, I need some advice and I'm hoping you lovely folks can help me! A little background: I graduated from UVA in 2011 with a BA (double major in sociology and women's studies) and am still living in Charlottesville. I found out today that I got accepted to Marymount's ABSN program, and I'd like some opinions before I make a decision. I'm trying to decide between Marymount or just getting an associate's at PVCC and taking it from there. My parents live in Northern VA (Leesburg) so while the commute would be a pain, I'd be able to live for free. As you might've guessed from my first degree, I'm really interested in women's health and would love to go on to a MSN. Any comments about the program, professors, clinicals, etc. would be much appreciated! :)
  6. Got my letter - waitlisted! Argh! This happened when I applied to UVA as an undergrad...maybe the powers that be are reminding me to stay persistent. Fingers crossed for the rest of you! :)
  7. Any ASBN applicants heard back yet? I too am anxiously waiting...my online application status hasn't changed either. One of my friends from UVA (anthropology major) was accepted to the AMSN program, so I'm feeling slightly more hopeful about my liberal arts background!
  8. Thanks for the reassurance, mas28! Let's hope VCU sticks to their word and looks at the applicant as a total package - I get the gist that a few other students may be feeling similarly. I applied to the ABSN - hoping it works out!
  9. Hi everyone! Latecomer to this thread, longtime worrier about being accepted to the program. I'm a former community college student who transferred to UVA and graduated with highest distinction in August 2011 (3.8 GPA). I was a double major in sociology and women's studies, and as you all probably know, that's not exactly dynamite on the job market right now. I did a lot of undergraduate work surrounding women's health (I ran an eating disorder prevention program and interned at the sexual and domestic violence office), so that's an area I'd love to nurse in. The reason I'm freaked out about my application is partially seeing all the strong applicants on this thread (you all look so wonderful!) and also because I got some pretty poor grades in my prereq classes (B in statistics, A/B in the developmental psychs, and a B/C in the A&P classes). What can I say - it was a really rough time in my life for personal reasons, and online classes are just horrific for me. I'm hoping they'll focus on my overall GPA and see that I'm capable of doing quality academic work, even if it was in the "easier" liberal arts! I was (thankfully) able to pick up a job at Martha Jefferson Hospital, so hopefully that will help give me a little credibility. Good luck to everyone...the waiting is really the hardest part!
