  1. I'm a first semester nursing student at Sac City College (SCC) - Sutter extended. I've failed the last 2 of 8 theory exams. Passing grade is 75% and I've averaged 65% with the last 2 exams. I don't process information quickly and have a tough time reading the text. I also have a tough time absorbing information in lecture. I may have a learning disability (or it could be age related - in my 40s) but I won't know for sure until I complete the learning disabilities testing process (tests and counseling sessions) at SCC which takes about 3 months from testing date (I did the initial 3 hour test today). I've been studying about 35-40 hours a week besides labs and lectures. I go through the study guides and text and write down answers, notes, main points (study guides, powerpoints and textbook). I have a study group of 3 but the other two are either failing or barely passing. I'm not sure what to do at this point. If you have any suggestions, let me know. Also, any Sutter nursing students who has done well on the last 2 tests and would like to help me with this issue by letting me join your study group, this would be much appreciated. Again, just don't know what to do at this point so I'm throwing this out into the wind ....
  2. Hi, Bristowa. Thanks for your response and congratulations, again. The reason I initially posted this thread was to hopefully meet some of the enrollees before the 11/21 meeting but since I've only gotten one response since Wed, I'm beginning to feel that I posted in error. Maybe asking for a study group before the orientation was a bit hasty. I'm a take charge kind of a gal and tend to be too organized (like Monica on "Friends") so the study group, I thought, would be a good idea. If not, we can do a more informal (and quick) meeting before the orientation if I get anymore responses back. Or we can just meet at the orientation and forget about meeting prior.
  3. First off, I want to say CONGRATS! to all of the Sutter Extended Campus, as well as Sac City and ARC enrollees for Jan 2012 :) . I also was accepted to the Sutter Extended Campus nursing program in Jan. I wanted to start this new thread to reach out to the Sutter Extended enrollees to see if anyone would like to get together next week before the 11/21 orientation. The purpose of this meeting would be an introductory one. I will have name tags available. I will also get contact information from those at the meeting and email it to the group. Essentially, this meeting would an initial study group meeting. If you are interested, please reply and let me know what days and times next week you are available and also which area you live in. I'll schedule a convenient time and place (coffee house/restaurant) central to everyone's location and availability schedules. I'll post the meeting place and time by this Sunday evening (on this thread). A study group will be vital to our success of this program so I'm hoping that by starting an early study group, we will benefit from each other's wisdom and experience through the 16 months of intense training. Looking forward to meeting you next week!
