  1. I have heard two different pieces of advise given to me as I get ready to join the nursing world: 1)It is better to work on the Med/Surg floor for at least a year before specializing; 2) If you have the opportunity to jump into a nursing specialty of your choice, do it before you lose your chance and may never get it again. So what should I do? I have an opportunity to be in a special area of practice that I have wanted to be in for as long as I can remember wanting to be a nurse and yet I have people nagging me to become "well-rounded" and work on the Med/Surg floor to gain that experience. Just looking for some other advice.
  2. I am graduating from an ADN program and have worked as a CST for 5 years. I have been looking at available nursing positions at different facilities and they are requiring that I have a BSN in order to work. Visiting with a few of the workers at the hospital, they say they would hire me in a heartbeat due to the hospital experience that I already have; especially in surgery. So my question is what would you choose if you were to fill an open position? If you had to choose betweem a nurse with a Bachelors degree and little experience (mainly clinicals) or an Associate Degree nurse with a lot of experience; who would you choose?
