I'm interested in joining the air force as a nurse once I have graduated from school. However, there is one thing that I am worried about. In my early twenties, I applied for a job with my local police. I was rejected b/c I failed the psychologic evaluation. How will this affect my ability to join the air force or other branches of the armed forces? I should mention that I requested the report and it stated that the psychologist who evaluated me thought I was too timid for the position and recommended that I choose another less fast-paced within the police department and then work my way up to the job I had applied for. However, does the armed forces look that deeply into why you failed a psych eval or do they just stop once they read the "failed psych report" on your profile? While I totally agree with the psychologist who interviewed me at that time, I do not think that profile fits me much anymore so I would hate for that to keep me back. I'm not sure if this matters but its been more than 5 years since that evaluation.
