Hey, I was wondering if anyone currently works at NUMC. I was called for the pediatric clinic but I am not sure if I want to take the job. I work full time at a doctors office right now and this job is only part time which means no benefits... though the pay is significantly better. I have been hearing rumors that employees their arent happy, and that their are constant layoffs. I am nervous to quit a job I have security in for one that might not be secure. But to do a pediatric clinic would be amazing!!! any thoughts? Thanks!!

Job of the BSN nurse
So someone with a Bachelors of Science degree in community health who is also can RN can do things that a regualr RN cant?
-
Job of the BSN nurse
The lpn/lvn can give oral meds, reinforce teaching the RN has already done, can perform bedside care, can take vitals as long as they arent the initial vitals. the RN with a BSN can delegate, hang IVs, do dressed changes, document, and soemtimes can be a manager on the floor The FNP can diagnose, perscribe medication, order and read test results and acts as the primary care provider Is there a difference b/w an RN with a BSN and an RN with a BSN in community health or are they one in the same?

Job of the BSN nurse
What is the job of the RN with a BSN in community health? What would his/her role be in caring for a patient when there is also an LPN/LVN and a FNP on the team?

Nurse Accountability
ok thank you so much - i apologize if i sound ignorant. i was also just wondering - in regards to a nurses accountability i wrote nurses are accountable for ensuring patients safety and for providing optimal nursing care. and they want me to expand on that - which makes sense since it's really just 1 sentance. the only issue is i have no idea. i wrote a whole 1-2 paragraphs on patient advocacy that got no corrections back, and i feel like im just being repetative

Nurse Accountability
but after the vents and tubes have been put in what more can be done? isnt the damage done at that point? If the question was still to intubate or not to intubate then the nusre 100% should be advocating but it's been done...

Nurse Accountability
Hey, I recently submitted a paper and was returned to me. The case study was about a patient who was in a coma and his advanced directives said no tubes no vent no cpr etc, and his brother was his durable power of attorney. the dr spoke with the nephew (not the brother) and put him on a vent. (uhoh!) the part of my paper i got returned to me was about the extent of the "extent of the nurses obligation" to report the doctors mishap, and "the nurses accountability for patient outcomes and advocacy for the patient in this type of situation" I wrote about HIPAA and how the nurse should take steps to remind the dr not to violate it (by talking to the nephew), and that the nurse should tell the nurse manager of the situation and be adviced as per hosp policy on how to procede, but since I got that part resubmitted I'm assuming I missed something.... ahhhhh As for the nurses accountability I wrote we are accountable for our patients and have to act as advocates (previously in the paper I discussed patient advocacy and what that means for the nurse) so i totaly dont see the difference. at the end of the day if the dr is going to do whatever he wants to do how/why is the nurse to handle this..... I contacted my professor (its online) 2 times in the alst week and no response - i just want to resubmit this and move on - any advice? ahhh

RN-BSN Advice
I'm glad to hear you like it! at this point I'm really at a loss for what to do. I love the sound of chamberlin but there is something so unappealing about being $20,000 in debt when with WGU I can pay most out of pocket... But Chamberlin sounds SOOOO much more appealing in almost every other way than WGU. The masters programs I'm looking into have said that they will accept a BSN from WGU but the nursing field seems to change their requirements constantly and i dont want to be stuck. ahhh decisions!!

So officially I started WGU Novemeber 1st - I jsut havent done much work for it because thers something about it thats giving me weird vibes - i'm going to call them tomorow to discuss any kind of refunds they might be willing to give - i jsut want to have a backup plan... i would love chamberlin if it wasnt so expensive!! i have a BA already so after 4 years of college and 2 years of nursing school i dont want to be in shcool another 2 years....
