  1. Kudos to that Nurse Manager. The evidence does show that in 12 hour shifts, more mistakes are made and nurses may be in danger too.
  2. All the hospitals in my area staff with 12 hour shifts only. Does anyone work in a hospital that does 8 hour shifts? If so, which area of the country are you in?
  3. Hi everyone, I just interviewed for a part time dialysis position today. It is 10 hour shifts, 2-3 days per week. It is a hospital affiliated, chronic out-patient dialysis center. Looking for some feedback:). I'm currently working on a med/surg unit (12.5 hour shifts). How would you compare dialysis nursing to hospital nursing? Should I stay in a position where the work atmosphere is chaotic and exhausting and my co-workers are difficult, just because it is what I know? Should I switch to dialysis? I don't mind being busy, but I hate being completely overwhelmed. Lately, when I leave work, I feel traumatized:crying2:. Any feedback appreciated:heartbeat.
