  1. Thank you for everyone's imput and opinions, I greatly appreciate it. I guess I was just looking for some encouragement and reassurance, but it's up to me. thank you Fotografe what you said was what I had in mind. Anyway, thanks again to everyone.
  2. Thanks for the encouragement! :) *sigh* maybe I should seek a counselor and see what he/she might say. I don't know.. I mean if I don't make it to med school what am I going to do w/a bio degree? I guess I jaut wanted to see if anyone else in the same situation or one who have made it for some encouragement, but so far it seem like my decision is wrong...
  3. Well let me tell you why i chose the nursing path. I have always wanted to be a doctor, family practice or dermatology. I know that for the pre-reqs for medical school you have to have the certain amount of science classes and they prefer you to have a bachelor degree. So from there I thought to myself, well would I like to major in business, biology, or nursing to pursue this. Well I x'ed out business b/c the economy is bad and so I had biology and nursing left. So I planned it out with both majors and with many thoughts about it, I decided to major in nursing b/c I thought to myself *if I can't make it into medical school there are money opportunities in nursing where I can specialized in something, for example NP or CRNA so I got best of both world. I feel really bad like I say to go into nursing w/o the mind set of "yes this is what I want to do and I always wanted to be one" but I hope ppl understand that I didn't steal anyone's spot on the nursing program, i worked hard for it and I am proud to be chosen to go to the school i wanted. So I am sorry if i offended anyone. Right now I am int he first semester of a BSN program and i feel like I am not motivated at all, maybe I should shadow those ppl like u say and see whether I like it or not. Thank you again tho.. :)
  4. Hi PICURN! Can I ask you why you think it's bad idea to do the nursing route to become a M.D? I am just curious. I really need input on this b/c I am so undecided and I think I had kind of rushed my decision on going to nursing school and try to get into medical school later. Maybe I should have gone w/my first decision and not go to nursing school altogether and pursue a Bilogy major. *sigh* thank you for the insight on NP though.
  5. Thanks for replying everyone. Anyway, this is my first semester of nursing school and to tell you the truth I was about to cancel everything and not attend nusring school at all and go in a biology major, but I talked to a mentor and she told me that with the nursing degree I'll be able to work part time and take all my pre-reqs out of the way and have the medical experience that might become an asset to me later in medical school. So I thought about over and over again and finally decided I am going to give it a try. As i say, who knows down the line i might change my mind and do somehting totally different. I feel really bad for going to nursing school and not having the attitude "is b/c I always wanted to become a nurse", but I am not afraid to admit that. I mean seriously, what is wrong with I want to go into nursing b/c i want to become a NP or CRNA later in life? I mean it's still advancing ur career. Don't get me wrong, but i totally respect nurses for what they do. They actually amaze me, but down the line I don't want to be that stressed out and I want a normal schedule to support and take care of my family. *sorry if I offended anyone
  6. Thanks Greentea for the insight. I was wondering b/c I wanted to see if there's ppl out there that is taking this route of becoming a nurse to learn and have the experience of patient care and then go on to become a physician. I, myself, is taking this path. I might change my mind later on once i finish nursing school, but I have always wanted to become a doctor and so I decided I am going to major in nursing first.
  7. Hi there, I don't know if this topic has been brought up before, but I was just wondering is there any BSN graduates out there pursuing a M.D. degree after graduation? If so, can you tell me how come or what made you decided to go to into medical school?
  8. Can someone please tell me what is the difference between RN, LVN, and LPN in responsibilities wise. I know what the degree stands for, but I was just wondering is there a difference in responsibilities and duties at the hospital. Please help, thanks!
  9. Wow 80k a year? Can I ask what u specialized in, was just wondering? :)
  10. Gosh I am so happy that I can't even spell *hear (here) and not even making sense. hehe What I meant is hopefully I will graduate by the end of 2006, but w/ any delays it might take me longer than two years.. Sorry about that

  12. Thank you guys!! I am very happy and grateful for these replies. I got into the dallas one.. Anyone else receive their letter today???
  13. Hi guys, I am so happy today i just got my TWU acceptance letter today.. wheww I was so anxious.. Well I am just so happy thought i leave a message
  14. hmmm, I don't know how much hospitals are supposed to pay for your tuition. But I have a friend that is attending TCU and Baylor hospital keeps on contacting her to sign with them and they are willing to pay for her tuition. If a hospital have to sponsor you for two years then you work for them two years, but if you only need one year then you only have to work for them one year. As far as I know, if you are thinking of advancing your studies and getting into ICU with a minimum of two years experience, if the hospital sponsor you I heard that they tend to put you where ever they need you first then you can ask for transferring to ICU. I guesss if you need the money then ask for a sponsor, if not, I would recommend not to b/c you would have to waste an additional year not in ICU. Maybe you can work this out at the hospital and ask if you can get into ICU when you graduate, I don't know if you can but this is what I heard from other peeps. Hope this help! As for "school A" I am really curious to know what school you are talking about. hehe Hmmm.. I guess it won't hurt to wait for your acceptance letter and decide where you want to go. I wanted to go to Baylor also but I know i couldn't afford it so I applied to other schools. I am waiting for the letter too. All I have to say is that loans loans loans for Baylor. My friend who is attending TCU right now is struggling to pay off her tuition and books, but she likes it there tho so I guess if you want it bad enuff you can! But if your intention is to get your master in NP you need to remember that NP school is more expensive and you rpolly need to get more loans.
  15. Thanks for replying! I know that what I need to do in the future is concentrate on nursing school and make good grades. But I would like to know about the science GPA b/c I made A's in micro and AnP 2, but B's in Chem 1 and AnP 1 and so if these science classes are what they are going to look at also, do you guys think I should re-take AnP1 or chem to have a higher science GPA?
