  1. Is orientation on friday in the same room in the K building? At 8am right?
  2. Kayliana I think the FB page is a great idea. If you set one up please let us know. I think it would be really helpful!
  3. Do any current students have any advice on what extra books to purchase outside of the bundle? Also what medical terminology flash cards are the best? I think someone mentioned the best ones to buy at orientation but I can't find my notes about it. Should we buy flashcards for pharmacology as well? I feel like I should at least start on flash cards for medical terminology and pharmacology so if you have any suggestions or used some that worked well for you can you give us some insight please! Thanks!
  4. Great news! Thanks everyone!
  5. Does anyone know if you have to do clinicals on holidays? Such as my clinicals are on Monday's fall semester (this is my first semester) and Labor day is also a monday. Am I going to have to go to my clinicals on Labor day? Thanks for any info you have!!!
  6. Thanks so much! So is there a website where you do the pre-check at, I must be missing it I can't find anything about it in my packet.
  7. Does anyone know what you have to do for the "Proof of Criminal "History Background Check (Precheck)" as listed on the checklist of the packet? I don't remember hearing what to do for this at orientation and I was just accepted last week. Also, what would be the best additional books to buy that aren't required texts from anyones experience that's in the program? Thanks!
  8. They are this summer but last semester they did the math 1/2 in december and then the care plan piece in january because of the semester split or something. I don't know. I didn't get in so I didn't take it I just remember them taking about it in orientation last time.
  9. Have any alternates gotten a call yet? No call here, crossing my fingers tho!
  10. Also, just curious - those of you who are alternates, how many points did you have? I had 27 for part-time.
  11. Does anyone know what blocks were leftover? I'm an alternate, crossing my fingers for a spot. Any alternates heard yet?
  12. Have any alternates been called yet? It looked to me like 3 part-time people didn't show for orientation but I could be wrong. Hopefully that means three people will be called this week!
  13. Has anyone picked up their packets yet? It sure would be nice to get some good news (as an alternate) but I doubt it.
  14. Alternate too. Part-time program. At orientation they count up how many spots there are in a round about way so you can kind of gage how many spots are open. When they hand out the numbers to pick your schedule there are some leftover because some people don't show so they fill in the gaps by moving higher numbers lower, if that makes sense. Last year I know they took quite a few alternates for full time and I have no idea how many for part time but I wasn't one of them. I'm truely happy for those that get in, I've already been through school once in health care admin and I work full-time so if I don't get in it's not the end of the world. Just something I always wanted to do and felt I'd be good at. Good luck to you!
  15. Hi jzeno, Basically it means you are an alternate for this semester only so you have to do everything as if you were actually accepted meaning orientation, shots, ect. It depends on how many people drop out or miss orientation so you could know by next friday if you got in or not till a week before the program starts in August. It's just a waiting game. If you aren't accepted this semester you'll have to re-apply for next semester. Good luck, hope it works out!
  16. Twinkle Toez...Thanks! I am hopeful! So what are the rules on having a baby while in the program? Do you take a semester off and re-join with the class behind you? I'm just wondering if I am due mid-semester (which I'm not at this time) would I just not go that semester?
  17. I'm guessing the cut-off was 28. Well good luck to us both, I hope we get good news soon!
  18. dwofford how many points do you have? I'm a part-time alternate as well with 27pts I believe.
  19. I just got mine to be an alternate for part-time. Better than nothing I guess.
  20. Join the club, worst wait of my life!
  21. I'm interested to know more about online classes too. I've always really liked them in the past and they work for me because I check in every day and I'm super organized but some of my friends have hated them so I'm curious to hear how online classes are in the nursing program. I don't really have a choice because I work full-time and I'm saving up my PTO to take off when I need to but I can't take off a full day every week for classes that could be taken online.
  22. Does anyone know if we will be picking up our packets this friday the 27th or next friday May 4th? Do they let you send someone in your place if you can't be there? And do they start at 8am or 9am? I may not even get in but if I do I'm trying to plan around my sister having a baby May 4th out of state and I really don't want to miss it.
  23. Any calls yet? None here. I'm guessing it will be later in the week but just wanted to check with everyone.
  24. So it's the 16th? Do you all think we'll find out next week? Wish it was this week! Has anyone heard anything else about how many are being accepted and the point cut-off's?
  25. I applied for the extended track too. I also work full-time so a study group might be hard for me but if I have time I'd love to do one. I was an alternate last semester so I do know a little about how it works. I know that they do have evening classes and online classes but as far as clinicals go Im not sure if they have weekend times available. How it works the first semester is everyone gets a number at orientation from 1-140 or however many spots they have. According to your number you get to go in the hall and pick out your schedule for the semester. After your first semester you can register on your own and choose whatever hours work best for you. I'm just saving up my PTO so I can take time off during the day if I need to for school and hopeing that someone may want to switch with me if I get a schedule that doesn't work. I'm thinking that most people wont want to go to school or clinicals on the weekend so I may luck out and get a weekend schedule. There is another string of comments about the RN program in the Fall on this website. You should post there, I know I check it all the time so someone else might have better insight than I do. Good luck, hope to meet you at orientation. How many points did you apply with? I have 27, crossing my fingers!
