  1. Hey smoup, First of, anything is doable when you set your goals & work towards achieving them:up: . However I will not advise you to consider working full-time while undertaking this program. It is rigorous...especially the 16months route - 18 graduate credits per semester. What makes it even worse is the fact there are research papers for almost every course. Workload is heavier than for the BSNs. As per clinical hours, it all depends on the course. For the 1st semester there's fundamentals with just 45hrs; 90hrs each for pediatric, obstetric, psychiatric, and community health; 120hrs for adult health (med surge) and 315hrs for final semester Practicum. A good statement of purpose will look good in your application package. Good luck in your endeavors and do not hesitate to contact me with any more questions. Sorry it took me this long to reply to your post. I think it will be better for you to me PM me. Thanks!
  2. They only accepted 28 students for Spring 2012. I think they try to raise candidates hopes with those high figures. Plus they probably interview just about 40 candidates. Don't be fooled. It's a tight race!
  3. Hey Guys! first off... CONGRATULATIONS to all ye who have been admitted into the CNL program. I could not be of help during your admissions process, however, I am open to any questions re the program. I am a second semester CNL student at UMB. It is UMB, not UMD - UMD is the College Park campus. Just thought I'd point that out, so people don't get confused.
  4. Finally found a CNL candidate. How is your prep coming? I got my letter late, thus am just starting out with taking care of requirements.
  5. Thanks! It's weird that I haven't received my letter yet tho'. I called the admissions office today and the receptionist thot it strange too and so transferred me 2 someone who might 've some mo details. Had to leave a vm tho'... Gosh the ordeal of waiting. Will call them again first thing in the morn' & might just offer to go pick it up myself. Question: What is the deadline to accept or decline the offer?
  6. Congratulations and Welcome 2 the group!
  7. Well, haven't received my packet yet and I got the call since Tuesday of last week. Wrote them and they responded they mailed the letters earlier this week and I should be getting it soon. It's taking forever. What does it contain if I may ask, does it have info on aid and all that? Hope to see everybody in Jan!
  8. Did this thread just die? Has anyone who got accepted received their admission package yet? When I got the call, I was told I would get it late last week or early this week-& it's mid week already. Am kinda anxious 2 know what the entire deal is about.
  9. Hey amall!, what letter does your last name start with?- am thinking they are calling alphabetically??? May be?
  10. Thank you & hopefully u get a call... O! the ordeal of waiting
  11. They left me a message for me to call back. Called back & it is.... Good News!!! Perfect bday gift 4 me-it's on the 14th. Status changed too, 2 Admit-Institution. Good Luck ALL!!!
  12. Since it's a new week, I really wouldn't hold my breath to hear something today though. Let's give it till Friday. Decisions might start rolling out this week, hopefully and well, since it's just 3:30pm Eastern time, and am hoping the same thing.
  13. Very helpful info you got there amall. Taking into account what u said & considering the fact that Juanita told me to expect to hear 2weeks after my interview which was on 10/20, makes even more sense since the last date to interview was 10/24. Add 2 weeks to dat, & u get 11/07. All speculations:idea: It eases some tension to know that not too many applicant's were interviewed, which increases each and everyone of our chances of being accepted, or wait-listed.:banghead:
  14. Yeah. My Chem 101 from HCC was a general chem course too. CHEM-101 General Inorganic Chemistry I
  15. I took Chem 101 from HCC.
  16. Was told the same thing by my interviewer & Juanita (rem. her huh?) - "you will hear something within two weeks of your interview". It's goin' to be harsh winter in MD I gather. It actually did snow yesterday, wasn't heavy enough to accumulate, but brace yourselves. Temperature highs are mostly below 50˚& 60˚ these days.
  17. Hope they do. Let's use this forum to keep ourselves sane through this period of WAITING. Come Monday, we'll have two more weeks to go. I don't think I have ever been this anxious about something I needed so bad.
  18. I am looking to deviate farther.... Public Health
  19. Does it mean, u can't defer admissions to a later semester?
  20. I hope so, Ha! Keeping my fingers crossed. Anyone trying to use this degree as a stepping stone/leeway?
  21. I kind of console myself my wasn't that short, coz we both shared a lot.
  22. Dec. 15th! Aint that a long wait... or did u mean Nov.?
  23. Yeah. Africa as whole do have those stories- u can tell them on & on. Lol. The interview went pretty well u know...sounded like it went well for everyone. Hope we get in come November:yeah:. Best of luck to all. No. Just completed & submitted the applications earlier this week.
  24. well, for one, am originally from ..... & it was just all about our healthcare syst, and my family experiences that shaped my desire to go into the field. not that she was unclear, she seemed intrigued about the things i was sharing with her-one question led to another. apparently, there were couple things i gave her a closure to as per our culture and migration to here. most of the things we talked about weren't very related to the 'scripts'. the interview proper was pretty short per se. as 4 plan bs i actually have applications in for other grad progs against sp2012.
  25. Hey all, yeah it's nerve wrecking to wait. I had my interview with Fran Valle on 10/20 @ 1pm. She initially told me it would be a very short interview-said she had about 5 questions for me. Well, I shared my experiences with her, she had a lot of personal questions for me (mainly coz of my background) and she shared quite a bit w/me too. Not 2 say the least, I don't know if this is a good or bad thing, because it seems as if everyone had a very short interview. I got there earlier than was scheduled, got interviewed early, and left UMSON around 1:30p Ps. I noticed on one of her already interviewed candidates' papers that, she gave them an "E". I can't help but wonder, if that was rated up or down. Anyways, all we have to do is wait. Any plan Bs?
