  1. Like I said in my previous post, TIME MANAGEMENT. I was going to say to, but many others have said instead of staying on Facebook or going online, study.
  2. I'll tell you what Emily, you gotta be flexible and dedicated. I'm still a young guy and in the same age range as you. All my years in school, I was told I would barely pass to get to middle and high school. Well, once I was able to utilize resources such as a tutor, I started getting better grades. Move on to high school and my having a coach inspire me during summer, I graduated high school. The kicker is that all the teachers that told me I wouldn't succeed, I proved them wrong by getting honors every year until graduation. The important aspect was that I NEVER GAVE UP, I UTITLIZED MY RESOURCES (going to office hours even in elementary school), I WAS FLEXIBLE (being able to adjust to various situations and conditions), and also I HAD TO BELIEVE IN MYSELF AND STAY DEDICATED. I never was an A student, but when I applied all of those factors together everything later on went well. Still though, now that I'm in Nursing School after pursuing it for 3 long years, I gotta say all the struggles I been through was worth. I'm here now and all I have to do is keep my spot. Let's fast forward now to my experience so far in Nursing School. So many of you already made posted great advice that even I found useful to implement in some future classes. Anyways, Nursing School is not going to spoon feed you like regular universities. Seriously, in one of my classes here there has been very few handouts other than NANDA and Gordon's Health Patterns. Nursing is not a very easy major at all. Even pre-req's required my 110% effort to succeed. The fact of the matter is YOU NEED TO BE MORE POSITIVE IN YOURSELF. Don't pay attention to distractions just focus on you. The second thing is YOU NEED TO STAY MOTIVATED. YOU GOTTA WANT TO SUCCEED. Through DEDICATION, HARD WORK, AND UTILIZING YOUR RESOURCES AND TIME MANAGEMENT will get you very far. Another aspect that is important is YOU MUST BE ABLE TO ADJUST TO CRITICAL THINKING. Not the average definition and bam answer. That is something I had to acclimate to and I'm glad I struggled and did better than pass the last exam. I always stayed after for office hours even in middle school. That has helped me the most in pinpoint issues or when I had trouble understanding. Even though I got my first grade and it wasn't passing, I WORKED, I UTILIZED, I STAYED HUNGRY ABOUT DOING BETTER, I STAYED POSITIVE. It's definitely a different ball game, but if you truly love nursing pursue it and STOP THINKING NEGATIVE. Last thing again that I want to reiterate is TIME MANAGEMENT!!! Keep fighting Emily!!!! Excuse all the caps, but that's just something I wanted emphasize that helped me even now. Good luck.
  3. Just found it, yup tuesday thursday. Thanks for the help.
  4. Really Tuesday and Thursday? I can't seem to find a key for the days.
  5. Hope you guys/gals are having a great labor day! Anyways, since we had today off does my monday's class start tomorrow? Or do I just go on Wednesday as scheduled? Also, does Tr mean just thursday's only and not tuesday and thursday? All my classes are going to be taken on site. I'm a little confused. Here's my schedule. Thanks everyone! Math 114 MWF 12-1:50 pm. SPCH 277 Tr 12-1:50 pm
  6. It's not really disorganized, I just wish that they would have gave us this information way back so we're not all rushing.
  7. The SSA (---------------) said to me once the background check is completed all my classes and everything are good to go.
  8. Nice! I was in the very last row in the white shirt when they called who was from out of state. haha Btw, do you know when they will be posting up our schedules on our portal?
  9. Just wondering who is going to orientation again this friday @ 10 am as well as who got accepted so we could all network with each other.
  10. That's very true. There is still some classes such as the health and wellness, intro to nursing class, and a few more, but in January it's the real deal with everything nursing. Glad you got accepted as well!!!
  11. Thank you all! It's definitely a great feeling. Good luck to you all this year!
  12. Also, if your taking chemistry and math, practice practice practice.
  13. Still read your text book and always go to office hours when you feel confused or unsure. Be on top of everything.
  14. Thanks. Don't stress out too much. Enjoy your years in school because it only gets harder, but still when you need a break take it. Don't constantly do work all day. Have some fun.
  15. Thanks, I start in September at Chamberlain College of Nursing down here in Phx. I have orientation next week to get my class schedule, background check, and finger printing done. Good luck to you! I'll be making a thread on the first week.
  16. Sorry for the late reply. Anyways, my three summers has been busy. The first summer session I did was just Biology 181. The second summer was Biology 201 (Anat. & Psio I), but I made a C in that and retook my third summer and got an A. Took Biology 202 as well the same time as 201, which made things very busy. Non stop studying everyday and basically didn't have enough time to really hang with friends, etc. I made a C in that, but that was by far the most interesting class as well as challenging since you're applying many different concepts such as the endocrine system how neuroepinephrine and epinephrine are hormones that regulates sympathetic (fight or flight) or parasympathetic (rest and relax) responses. You'll hear about that in 202. My grades were pretty solid throughout the years I started since I was a freshman so a little C didn't make too much of a difference. Be wary though and talk to your counselors and your nursing college for more info. To be honest, I asked the nursing students up in my school when I was down in Tucson (U of A) how the program was and what they told me was more specific. So try that out. It's not bad during the summer, but it's more condensed depending on how long the class is. Good luck!
  17. Congrats!!! It feels good don't it?? lol Same here. So glad to finally get things rolling.
  18. So after a long 3 years and 3 summers in the making, I finally got the call on the 7th that I was accepted into nursing school!!! It was the best feeling in the world almost like a huge weight lifted off of my shoulders. When I look back, every hour spent studying and all the countless nights preparing for exams in different classes, it was all worth it. Can't believe the first hardest part of getting into nursing school is over. All I gotta is it feels great!!! To any of you aspiring to be nurses, it's definitely a great feeling once you get up to this point, but always remember that there will be struggles along the way. I believe though anyone can get in as long as they put the effort, determination, and willingness to be "hungry" to get accepted. If there is one thing I did learn is not to stress yourself out too much. Take breaks here and there, but still balance your extracurricular activities and schoolwork. If per say you're struggling with information in chemistry, go to your professor's office hour to get a better explanation. Anyways, just wanted to throw my two cents in there. Good luck to everyone this semester along with those waiting for their calls, emails, or acceptance letters!!! If you guys have any further questions, feel free to PM or post up here.

  20. I got the call yesterday and got accepted!!!! My orientation is wednesday the 14.
  21. That's not bad at all. You should be fine. Just know the ins and outs of converting. So be able to go back and forth per say between like gallons to quarts or gallons to cups.
  22. I wouldn't be nervous. Just practice and practice. What did you get overall?
  23. Glad to know you also are in Phoenix. Good luck and if you have further questions pm me for math. It's pretty basic fractions, ratios, word problems.
  24. I just was wondering if any of you who applied to the Phoenix Campus recently and took the HESI in addition to just waiting for "the call"? I'm hoping to receive a call on Wednesday regarding admission or non-admission.
