  1. Sand2628, congrats!! I sent you a private message with the Facebook link! :) Kbevans56, here was what I had when I got accepted: English 12: A Biology 12: A Chemistry 11: B (also did chemistry 12 with a B...not sure if that mattered or not) Principles of Math 11 (and 12): B English 105: A+ Math 104: B+ Anthropology 102: B I don't know what the percentages were...I think mid-high 90's for my A's and low-mid 80's for the B's. I also did a business certificate in 2008 at UFV with a 3.61 gpa. Apparently that helped too. I had approx 120 volunteer hours at a long-term care home and hospital ER. My interview went really well...she seemed more concerned with making sure I was mature enough and emotionally ready to handle this program rather than what I knew about the nursing field (although they expect you to know nursing values and whatnot...all information you'll be prepared for by reading info on the crnbc website!). Also reading forums and blogs (like you're doing now) really gave me a lot of confidence going into the essay and interview. I had to try through two intakes before I was accepted (originally applied for jan 2013, but didn't make it to the interview). I found out around November I didn't get excepted. So after my first rejection I re-upgraded my biology and I completed engl 105, math 104, and anth 102. I also upped my volunteer hours from 65 to 120. Good luck! It sounds like you're ready with your grades and volunteer hours. Just work on your writing and interview skills. And read as much as you can about nursing, and you'll do great! Remember, the competition is different every intake, so if you don't get accepted the first time, try again! (And upgrading never hurts, as I learned!)
  2. Hey MichMm, check your ufv email. They just sent us our first three weeks schedule on Friday! Everyday is very different but pretty much 8:30-3:50 everyday. :)
  3. There is an "interactive course finder" on ufvs website that shows how many people have enrolled in a course. I checked it not long ago and it shows one person is enrolled in the nursing courses. Mine still doesn't work though. I'll try again tomorrow and let you know if it changes!
  4. Chinchilly - Just for first semester. In the letter they sent it said register for NURS 101, 102, and 103; HSC 111 (or 113 if you've taken 111); and ENG 105 if you haven't taken it already.
  5. Yeah I'm not sure what's going on with it. My time was at 2:30 and I tried around 5 and it wouldn't work still. I tried again just now (because I'm overly persistent...) and I was able to register for anatomy and physiology. However NURS 101, 102, 103 all said either there was a time conflict or prerequisite hadn't been met. So still not fully fixed yet. baileybee and stay-strong, if you try today, can you let me know if yours works for the NURS courses? (just incase it's an issue with mine). I'm the meantime I'll try to be a little more patient! Haha I'm just so eager!!
  6. Stay-strong, I had the same problem. Everything said "program restriction" so I couldn't register. Thanks tonysn for the info! I'm glad I checked here before calling. I'll try again on Monday! And congrats kristinaruprecht!! I added you into the Facebook group! :)
  7. Yupp exactly! :)
  8. I THINK registration times may have something to do with how long you've been a student at UFV? Or maybe when you got your application in? Not 100% positive. But either way, I've been a student there since 2007 (not every year though) and I got my application in last July. As for the seats, there should be no problems registering. They have 48 seats for each class (the amount of students accepted). You're required to be accepted to the bsn program before being allowed to register in any nursing class, so there's no competition from other students.
  9. Haha! Great minds think alike!
  10. Hi chinchilly--yes all our nursing classes will be held at the Chilliwack campus where the interviews were! The only classes that will not be held there are the non-nursing courses/electives (English, stats, anthropology/sociology/psychology, etc). I also read in an old forum that pharmacology (I think) was an evening course in Abby, but maybe that's changed now. (Tonysn, maybe you could confirm which ones may not be in Chilliwack?) My status hasn't changed either from accepted conditionally. My registration date is on Thursday, so I'll let you know if it changes after I register. Also, everyone make sure you pay your $200 deposit a couple days BEFORE your registration time to allow for them to receive it. I checked myufv on Monday and noticed I had a hold on my account and wasn't going to be able to register because my deposit wasn't paid yet. I did it online yesterday morning and the hold came off this afternoon. I know this rule changed from last year (you used to pay the deposit as you were registering), so just want to make sure no one has to wait longer than necessary!
  11. Thanks for the info Tony! I'll be attending the orientation too! To add on to the question above...do you know when we will receive more information about the mom-to-be project? I am following a good friend of mine who is due in October, so I was going to be going to an appointment with her next month, but not too sure what to do...do I journal these visits? Or just soak it all in?? Dragonflygrrl, my friend is going through the maternity clinic in Abbotsford. When I called UFV to give them all her information and doctors name, she mentioned quite a few people had found mothers through the maternity clinic. That may be a place to check out?
  12. Haha no problem!
  13. Baileybee, I sent you the link. Did you get it?
  14. Stay-strong, do you actually need any vaccinations or you just want to get the titre test done to check for immunity? Like Bigdreamss said, try the travel clinics for the TB test and any immunizations you need. I got an appt there for the TB test on Monday (so I get results on the 29th). For the immunizations I just needed the titre done, so I went to the walk-in clinic yesterday to get a requisition filled out and took it to BC Biomedical to get my blood test. Took an hour tops to do both. They said results in about a week (they mail the results to you, but said I can just call my doctor next week and ask if they can print out a copy to get it sooner). So IF my results only take a week, I'll have everything for Wednesday next week...which is still cutting it close. I'm sure they'll give you an extension. I'll probably ask for one too just in case. The Public Health clinics just seem to take a lot longer to get appointments.
  15. Sorry everyone! Not sure why it's not able to be found by just searching for it, but I've been sending links to everyone and that's been working! Keep letting me know if you can't find it and I'll forward the link.
  16. I'll pm you the link! (If anyone else has problems finding it, just say so and I'll pm you the link as well!)
  17. I've got the same sort of predicament. I also have a destination wedding to go to at the end of May, 2014. I figured it would work perfectly with school, until I saw that I've been accepted to the fast-track program. And I've seen on other threads that 2nd year for fast track starts around the 3rd week of May (right on the week of the wedding). I'm holding out worrying about it until I know the schedule for sure, but it's a close friend and I can't see myself missing the wedding. I talked to her about the situation, and she said she knows people in the bsn program at ufv who have taken multiple weeks off for vacation (not in a row, of course) and they have had no issues doing so. But I can see how it would be an issue missing clinical. As of now I was thinking of maybe working out my flights so that I don't miss clinical, but I can't really plan until I know the schedule for sure. So as far as I've heard, I THINK you would be ok taking a week off. Although I think it's probably safer to cancel the Alaska trip, especially in the first month of school. If it helps at all, I did the Alaskan cruise last September, and as nice as it was, it was the last one of the year due to weather, and I completely understand why. I have never been more seasick in my life (I couldn't even eat because the ship was rocking so bad). And not to mention, the Alaska scenery is identical to BC...once you've seen one, you've seen both! (Haha I'm working my hardest to make the decision easier for you). Best bet, like you said, would be to contact UFV. If you end up finding anymore info, let me know. I'm curious how time off in the program would work. And don't worry, it doesn't seem at all like you're not motivated for the program. I'm sure we were all making alternative plans considering how hard it is to get in, and it's not always easy to back out of those plans.
  18. Congrats Bigdreamss!!! I definitely know how you would have felt seeing that acceptance, it was definitely a shock for me too! As for the Facebook group, KimberS was able to find it (not sure if she did anything specific to find it??). It says with a closed group anyone should be able to search for it, but the posts aren't public. But I've seen on other threads that people have had issues. I'll see if I can pm you the link and see if that works, just give me a couple minutes to figure it out!
  19. Ok yay! I'm glad it worked! Now everyone else go look for it!
  20. KimberS, did you search for the one that has "fall intake" in it?
  21. Sorry guys! I just realized its "UFV BSN 2013 Fall Intake".
  22. Congrats dragonflygrrl!! See if you can find the Facebook page and join!
  23. Ok I had some downtime! I made the Facebook group. I can't add links on here, so search for "UFV BSN 2013 Intake". I've made it a closed group, but if there are any issues finding it or joining, let me know and I'll change it!
  24. Nope I haven't received mine yet, but I'm in the interior for the weekend, so can't check now til Tuesday. So let me know if you guys hear anything. I'll do the Facebook group as soon as I get home, unless anyone's in a rush and wants to do it!
  25. Thanks pet_lover48!! Congrats to you too! We should get a Facebook group going if there are enough people interested?
