Advice Needed
Hello, I will be graduating shortly--- in May 2012. I want to become a COMPETENT nurse. I don't want to forget basic information. I know alot comes from experience. I dream to become and ICU or ER nurse but I am ok with whatever I start with. My question is this: to continue educating myself, what is the best way to do so? Keep doing NCLEX questions even after you take the state exam, do lots of CEU, attend conferences, or read books..... What is best and most effective?

Here my stats! Judge Me
I am a 25 year old single mom with a beautiful 2 year old. I have an awesome support system. My goal is to become a CRNA I am currently graduating a ASRN program in May 2012 in Florida. Currently, I have a 3.4 gpa. I plan on retaking 3 classes I was granted F's due to hardships. I am unaware how much this will boost my gpa and how grad school committees will be influenced. I will be finishing 2 bachelor's degree before I apply---- BSN and biochemistry( I only have 6 classes left). I have no critical care experience yet. I have not shadowed or taken the GRE. So far am I on the right track? Do I have a shot?

My Criminal History.... Any chance?
I have a friend who will graduate ASRN in 2011. She also holds a CNA license. It was revoked in May. She is unsure why and has not persued an explanation. Beforehand, she acquired a computer in Wal Mart that she wrote a check for. She later cancelled the check and still kept the computer. And this was an out of state transaction. She lives in Florida. Also in the summer of 2011, she got arrested for DUI and felony drug possession (first time). She failed urine drug test, failed the field test, and had witnesses to attest she was swerving. She paid 5000 to her lawyer hoping he will "make it all go away". But I don't know how much this can be cleared. She plead not guilty and is taking it to trail. She doesn't think she'll be able to be a RN with a felony drug possession on her record. She has not informed her school that she was arrested but it is clear in the manual that this is required. This happened in the summer and she will graduate in December. She has not taken her boards yet and her case is still pending. What can she do? How can this be resolved? P.S: She also has 42 charges but most misdeamoners and nothing as serious as this. She was able to attend the Nursing Program with them.

How do I get my foot in the door???
I am having the same problems. It seems like merits, rankings, and enthusiasm does not count anymore. It's all about who you know
