CA Board of RN / time limit of taking NCLEX
Hello, my wife took the NCLEX in CA back in April 2014. She didn't pass and then received a letter from the BRN stating if she does not take the test within 2 years of last test completion date, her files will be destroyed and she must re-apply. My wife recently re-applied to re-take the test and the BRN accepted and sent her mail stating she is eligible to take test. Here is the weird part...in that eligibility letter, it stated....if she does not take the test within 2 years from this eligibility letter date, her files will be destroyed. We are confused. Should she take the NCLEX prior within 2 years of April 2014 or within 2 years of the eligibility letter (2 years will end Jan 2018) Thanks for any input

RN in Thailand , now in California ;need some advise please
Hi Suzanne, My wife has never worked in Bangkok. She had worked for a hospital close to her hometown in Sakon Nakhon (not in the city itself) ; Most recently (from 2001 to 2004) she had mainly work at a clinic in the local villages. They didn't do as much that a nurse would do in a hospital, just basic care. We do have the book in regards to your "first tip" and am going through that now. We have also enrolled her in some English class to improve on her English grammer as well. Oh, by the way , she went to the Nursing College in Mahasarakham:wink2: thanks again for the advice!

RN in Thailand , now in California ;need some advise please
Hello, I am posting this for my wife. My wife was an RN in Thailand before she married me and moved to California. We are in the SF Bay Area. We were able to have her complete the paperwork with CA BRN and she is qualified to take the NCLEX exam. First try at it though she did not pass. She has gone to Kaplan for review but that course wasn't much help to her but the online test review for 3 months was OK for her. We were thinking of having her go through a vocational school, such as Unitek or Western Career College or even a community College to enroll in the LVN program so that it will: 1) give her motivation to study more 2) gets hands on experience at current processes or equipment 3) be surrounded with other people in the same career field For now she studies at home and we also have a 2.5 year old son to take care of. Her 2nd attempt for the NCLEX will be this September but we are willing to change that to a later date and see other options to attend nursing class for review . Her English skills are not that great, that is also why we want to enroll her in school. Any advise is appreciated, thanks!

Ready to Pay for NCLEX results in CA
Thnx for the response....my name is still not showing up at the License Verification website. Today I called the CA BON and lady told me they are still processing my results and it may take 2-4 weeks. It's going on its 3rd week now..... Looks like people who had passed will see their names on the Lic Verification website within a week and people who don't pass will get their results in 2-4 weeks...can anyone confirm this pattern? Thnx again

Hello, I just took the NCLEX test July 24th in Oakland, CA and did not receive anything in snail mail yet. How long does it take? I am ready to pay for on-line results, are there any websites that can check if I pay? The wait is killing me!

Resources to study for NCLEX test
Hi all, My wife is an RN from Thailand. She arrived here in CA in January 2005. She recently got approved by the CA Board of Nursing to take the NCLEX test after they had reviewed her Nursing College credentials from Thailand. Can anyone recommend a good book or any resources that can help my wife prepare to take the NCLEX test. I have heard of Kaplan in Berkeley CA (we live in East Contra Costa County in the SF Bay Area). Did anyone go to Kaplan , what can you say about them? My wife's english skills are basic.........she can read english good but sometimes, has a hard time to undersrtand what she reads. Thanks for any help. I hope this is the correct forum to post.

Thai Nurse coming to CA on a K-1 Fiancee Visa
suzanne4,Thanks again for the informative answers. My fiancee works and lives near Sakon Nakhon, are there several TNC offices that she can go to or is there only a central office located in Bangkok? I have emailed the TNC to find out but just wondered if you had the answer. Again, I THANK YOU VERY VERY MUCH for your time.:)

Khun suzanne4, Khap Khun Khrap maak. Even when she is still in Thailand correct? Excuse my ignorance, but what is the "ATT" letter? Who has to get it translated, does my fiancee get the translation done and then give it to the school to foward to the CA BON or does the school automatically take care of the translations?Thank you again for time.

Thai Nurse coming to CA on a K-1 Fiancee Visa
Spacenurse, Thank you for the "welcome" and the helpful tips. I have tried to email the CA BRN several times with out luck. Sacramento is only an hour 30 minutes drive, so I think it'll be worth it to personally visit their office. If there are any other tips, advice or feedback from you or any other forum member, please don't be shy:) .

Thai Nurse coming to CA on a K-1 Fiancee Visa
This is a duplicate post in another section of this forum (international). Sorry if this duplication irks anyone. "Hi all: I am glad there is a forum such as this one here. I am not a nurse but my fiancee is a registered nurse in Sakon Nakon Thailand. She will arrive here on a fiancee visa sometime early 2005. We plan on having her try and work here in Northen California (SF/ East Bay Area) as a registered nurse.' I have read and downloaded the forms for steps for International RN Applicants here : http://www.nurse.ca.gov/howto.html#International What can she do while she is there...We have not submitted anything yet to the California Board of Nursing... I was just wondering if there are anybody here that can provide me feedback/suggestion or advice. I have so many questions... Thank you in Advanced"
