  1. Here's my opinion, which is just speculation. Both colleges know that they will only accept about 20% of the applicants, due to lack of seats. VCC requires you to take some core courses as Pre-reqs, like anatomy and whatnot, before applying. Why? Because, then all 100% of applicants will spend 1/2 semester at VCC to do the pre-reqs, even though only 20% of them will be accepted into the program later. Meaning VCC at least makes some money with the bunch of people who did the pre-reqs, but failed to get accepted. Douglas on the other hand does those core courses, like anatomy, within the program. I would rather pick Douglas.
  2. Thanks for the replies. Can someone tell me what this means:
  3. Just curious to know which nursing specialty has the highest pay in Canada. In the U.S., they have "Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist" aka CRNA. It's a 24 month Masters program, and the entry level pay after graduating is about $120,000 *note that in 2025, it will change to a Doctorate program* The Canadian equivalent, as for as I could tell, is the Anesthesia Assistant, a post-diploma program offered by Michener, TRU, and a few others. I haven't figured found how much they are paid, rumors say about $85,000. Anyone know if any nursing specialties pay higher? On a side note, does anyone know of any nursing jobs in a business related setting?
  4. So I'm a dude with quite a bit of chest and arm hair. I am going to be wearing scrubs for the first time soon, so I thought I'd get some input on my situation. I was thinking of wearing a thin white undershirt to cover up the chest fur, and wear my scrubs over that. From what I've seen of scrubs, they expose a whole lot of chest..... Is this acceptable? As for the forearms, well I'm not sure. Is it "unhygienic" to have a lot of arm hair? Here's an example of what I'm talking about: http://hairsite.com/serendipity/uploads/checkingin/ArmHAir.1.jpg . I guess I could start waxing .... While I'm at it, I might as well ask about shaving. Are male nurses expected to be clean shaven? I can't shave every day due to sensitive skin, but as with my chest and arms, I get a whole lot of facial hair growing, and fast...I get stubble like 6 hours after I shave so they'd probably want me to shave everyday ..... help
  5. Last spring I applied for BCIT and Douglass (Jan 2012 intake) and to UNBC/CNC (September 2011 intake). I got accepted into CNC so I moved up here to Prince George and have begun the program. I am still waiting on my acceptance decision from BCIT/Douglas, and if they accept me I'll probably finish up the first semester here in CNC then "start over" again at BCIT/Douglas. Nothing wrong with the nursing program at cnc/unbc, but frankly I don't like living in Prince George.
