Thanks. Which company are you using for tele units in your hospital? I heard Welch Allyn and Drager have come tele units which even have a color display on the tele units themselves. I reckon they will be convenient when transferring patients within the same network and wouldn't require the patient to be re-hooked to a transport monitor. Have you ever used these units? What is your opinion on them compared to ol' Philips and GE?

Thanks for replying. Is the expanded unit being used for general surgery patients too or just for cardiac patients? I heard even med/surg patients are being put on telemetry these day for early detection of patient under distress.

Hi, I am looking for general consensus on monitoring patients on med/surg floor using wireless monitors. We are thinking of upgrading some devices in our hospital. Just trying to understand the logistics behind it. Do you think it has any advantage to be able to centrally monitor patients at risk of cardiac events? Does it require additional training? What is the average ratio of monitored versus non monitored beds in med/surg in your hospital? What do you guys think of the newer devices which resemble telemetry units with a fancy LCD display like Infinity M300 (Draeger), Micropaq (Welch Allyn), Prefense NTX (Nihon Kohden)? (Did I miss anyone out?) Which device are you using on your med/surg floor?
